Has anyone got any pics of working hunter types? I have been told my horse might do well doing workers, but have been told he would need more weight on.

So if anyone had pics that would be great.

Thanks.

Workers arent as strict in types as a lot of classes. They need a reasonable amount of bone, workman-like paces (knee action,) a good gallop & a nice jump! Basically you want a horse that when you look at it, you say - I want to take that hunting (& one that stays sound whilst doing so!)

Thats my horse whose had placings at county level....

The mare is a really nice WH stamp, I rode her last summer for her owner. She would have been a good county prospect if the flatwork was better.
Sorry the only pic I have is this one so doesn't really give you that much to go on from the angle!

ETS ... ooops, photo has come out teeny so you can't see anything anyway!

Yes showjump, I think you'd do ok.

And yes, he would need more condition to be showing. Really nice sort actually.

How does he move - nice and straight??

Why not speak to Seaofdreams - she has just posted in the Picture Gallery about her horse coming a very brilliant 2nd in a Workers.

Lovely big lump of a horse, who looks in tremendous condition.

I think he is lovely and would so smart plaited. Don't go filling him up with food - I think he looks great - and remember that WH's are 'working' horses with a job to do and are often leaner than the ridden hunter's.

The jumping pics are plaited, and yes he looks start plaited up. Thanks.
I didnt think workers were much fatter than him tbh? I will take some recent pics tonight.

WH are a performance class - if he jumps, gives a great ride and moves well then you are 80% of the way there. Definately get some more topline and weight on as then his withers will not look so prominant when stripped.

Calm and condition is goos as it puts weight on without the fizz, topiline cubes claim to do the same but i have found the former more reliable with those horses that get het up on barley

This is my boy who has done well worker wise

He is more of an eventer type with more muscle and little fat - he would have done better if he was more "rounded"

Your boy looks like he would be a fantastic solid worker type with plenty of bone and a genuine look about him
