I have got my first wh class and just needed a few tips.
I am assuming like a sj class you put your number forward to start for order of jumping? Then do you have to hover around afterwards to see who is called forwards?
Then do you all go in for a ride around together before an individual show, which I assume is the same as a normal showing class?
Finally I am on adult riding a small m&m can I wear long boots?
Thanks

No is the sumple answer.
There is normaly no board for putting numbers down. Depending on the show you either jump in the order you turn up or in a set catalogued order

Generaly only clears will get called forwards, maybe some 4 faulters if there are very few clears.

Always short boots on small breed m&ms even for adults.

If you go clear then yes the rest is essentially the same as a showing class

I think every show is different, and it will depend on what level you are competing at. Conniegirl is correct for unaffiliated competitions but under 'Rules' it may be different. I stewarded at the NPS finals last year..... We took numbers on a board, then after each competitor jumped round unless eliminated they went forward to the confirmation judge to ride their show & then strip the pony. There was no 'normal' show class involved. Once all the competitors had completed they returned to the ring and were called out in reverse order of their placing. I appreciate this was the finals so other levels may not be so structured.

TBH I don't remember what footage the adults wore, I was too busy chasing people round the collecting ring!

I have never seen a board at county shows or at chaps and ncpa champs. At Bsps champs they very defiantly did a go round and I don't think they had a board but stand to be corrected on that one. I'd question any judge who didn't want to see a go round! A hunter/hunter pony is no blinking good if it can't gallop in company!

At top level there is rarely a go round. I steward regularly and it's a case of jump, if not eliminated then across to conf/ridden judge for individual show and strip. Once everyone has been its back in the ring, line up and wait to be called forward.

I can't see how the judge could demand a go round as the rings/order of play isn't set up for it if you have two judges.

Lower level there may well be a group walk/trot/canter/gallop

Affiliated 2 judges there isn't a go round
You jump unless eliminated straight out to do show and conformation then end of class back in for placings. Most winter affiliated shows even run to this format. There may not be a board but a ring steward will take note of when people ask to jump

Horse WH classes have a go round because they all have to go back in together for the ride

Our local venues affiliated (NPS and BSPS) WHP you jump, if not eliminated do your show straight away infront of the same judge around the fences. Go out and come back in to be placed.

Having stewarded BSPS qualifiers, please do not expect a "show jumper" set up! There is unlikely to be a board, if there is a ride judge there may not be a go round, but there may be even with two judges. Short boots for M&M and you may well only be called back in with a clear round. Take notice of the "collecting ring" steward and ask, they are usually only too happy to help. Please remember that this is a showing class, salute the judge before and after your jumping round, I have seen any number of show jumpers enter working hunter classes and treated them as jumping only classes, entering and leaving the ring without any acknowledgment of the judge, ignoring the collecting ring steward and it doesn't make a good impression!

LOL - you really need to turn up and see what the format it as I have seen all of the above at affiliated! I have seen numbers on boards, I have seen jump and then go straight to a second judge for individual show and strip. I have seen jump then hang around then everyone called back in for a go round and then individual. Sometimes no go round, just individual shows after being called back in. Sometimes it is a training class and only the jumping is judged and style of pony and rider round the course. You must wear joddy boots on a pony and they will never be ridden by a judge.
