Hi, I recently entered my new horse in a working hunter class at a pony club show (he's 15.1hh), and to my amazement we won! :) :) :) I've never done it before and the judge said I should do it at county level with him :) I would love to , but where do I start???! Any advice please........

Ooh well done!

I'm starting to do working hunter with my horse soon after I used to do it with my old pony who won ponies uk :)

Enter him in some more lower level stuff so he gets used to it
I think don't quote me on this the jumps are Bigger at county level

Good luck !

Thanks for the advice! I've just turned 15, so I would be able to do BSPS classes, but I think my horse is about 1cm too big for the 153cm classes, at 15.1hh. Will go to watch Royal Bath and West tomorrow if I get the chance :)

Have you ever put a stick on him liona? Often horses get sold as a height that's been guessed and not measured properly. Might be worth checking and making sure he's definately over the 153cm.

Best advice really would be to try and get lessons with a producer if you can. Look out for clinics and such at centres around you. They'll be able to tell you all you need to know about turnout, ettiquette and presenting your horse, as well as schooling for the show ring which is slightly different to dressage schooling.

That's a good point, we have one at our yard so I'll do that :) A friend of my mum is really into showing, and she kindly said she could help me :) Thankyou
