As I am technically on maternity leave from riding although still having a wee shot. I thought I would share my other half doing some working hunter training with her as he is taking her to her first working hunter show in 2 weeks. All of these jumps were decorated by our on site instructor. :D We have kept her jumping height to 60/70cm as she is still green with her jumping but doesnt respect it if its too low.

I like the fillers, especially the ducks in the water.

The secret to doing well in the jumping phase of WH (apart, obviously, from leaving the jumps up) is to jump in a flowing, hunting style. That can often make the difference between the placings of two horses.

I think your horse is lovely - just my type - but some WH judges might think that she is rather more chunky than they like in a hunter.

Good luck and enjoy your day!

He has a super position. Really allowing her to use herself and stay out of her way. Good luck :)

Thanks - he is really good with young horses or difficult horses as he is very patient and quiet with him. I honestly cannot fault his riding (neither can anyone else). Thanks.

Isn't she gorgeous :)

Good luck

Fiona

Thank you.

They both look fantastic - He has a great position, very balanced :)

They have a love hate relationship both my OH and Breagha.

The ducks were a super addition to the course. The instructor is really good at imagining up a course like this. There was a dog toy goose under one of them haha! My dog kept trying to steal it.

They were working on the flow through the jumps - she is still extremely green when it comes to jumping as we only dabbled with it over the last 2 years. She needs a bit more grid work and more work on learning to land on the correct leg but I am not worried about what will happen at the show, as long as she goes in, tries and behaves - I will be a happy pregnant owner at the side. lol. This will be her first working hunter comp, so they are entering the novice which is 60-70cm cause then she will put some effort into jumping but its still low enough to get her round if she is worried (she isnt bothered by much at all.

She isnt overly chunky in person but I know what you mean. I suppose with any type of showing, it is down to the judges perferred type and I have found over the years of showing Breagha coloured especially are not always favoured.

Thank you.

Depending on your horses height and if you wanted to start doing showing you might be better hogging and trimming and showing in working cob classes :-)

She is only 15hh and honestly I have thought about hogging her but I just don't think she is chunky and big enough and she actually suits being plaited. We have a pure ID who is 16hh and he has like 10inch of bone and he makes her look like a extremely fine pony. We are hogging him though when the time comes to take him out.
