Working Husky Breeders

contact the siberian husky club of great britain. they should be able to put you in touch with one local to you.

Yes I know plenty but expect to jump through several hoops if you want one, and wait at least a year. Do you have a husky already? Have you researched the breed? Why do you want one?

Also, they don't call themselves breeders. People with real working dogs will only breed to improve lines. I have 2 from the family who originally brought the breed in to the UK. They work and show, and it's the dual purpose husky that you should look for. One that wants to work but also looks like a husky should look like (not one that's bred for the show ring or mixed with other questionable lines just so it runs faster). Most of mine are from Alaskan Anadyr lines (one is pure Alaskan Anadyr), and a couple have a bit of Seppala in them.

Tell me a bit more about what you want.

I presume that is Seppala as in Leonhard Seppala, "father" of the Siberian Husky?

Don't know that much more than that, but I've read the book about the Serum Race and was just in awe of what especially he and his dogs did.

Yep.

Fully agree with SuzySparkle most serious working sibe breeders breed to keep also and I`m meaning the whole litter not just a puppy or two

Your best bet is to get along to some rallies speak to people there make yourself known, I wanted a good malamute (yeah i know not sibe) the type that was biult to do its job properly not a over fluffy short legged snapped tail job but a proper working malamute and it took me two years to get her, those two years we spent at rallies talking to breeders looking at the type we liked finding out who bred them making ourselves known in the working world showing that we where interested in that side of things and at the end of it all we found the breeder we wanted the dog from and because of the interest we had shown she said it would be a pleasure to give us a pup, I wouldnt settle for any less sentiment from a breeder now

and yeah I got an incredible bitch

Ah Cyrus, you're still here!!

I think in that case, I'll probably get a rig and a few harnesses and have a play with the inuits before jumping in at the deep end. Maggie had Skye running with her team a couple of times before she was put in pup.

We're going to Pembrey the second weekend in Feb too.

Ooooooo Pembrey will be dangerous lol you`ll definately be bitten by the bug

I remember OH wasnt interested in having more than one till we went to our first rally and then got to try the dogs in harness and then that was it boom he knew he wanted more lol
Give me a shout if you want any further help although I`m sure Maggie will be plenty of help too
