. I gentle explained the purpose of a flymask and she admitted she might be a bit of a protective owner

anyone else got any funny stories?

Not exactly hilarious , but one tack shop I worked in was owned by a man who was so mean that he didn't have a TV .

( He thought the licence fee was too pricey & had been done before for having a TV & no licence

)

So , in the days of HOYS being shown every evening , I would find myself sitting in front of the TV , noting colour of bit guards , rubber reins & noting the sort of browbands that were in vogue , so he could order them asap !

yeah i got asked on my first day if there were any cheap jodphurs a woman could buy after spendin 220 on ariat boots and chaps then asked if we gave discount for cash

I have a story from going into a tack shop! Not really funny, but...

The Spooky Pony had just dumped me on my head in the outdoor school and gone home. The helmet had made a lovely crunching noise, but I got someone to drive me back to our yard, where we found the pony grazing in the driveway. After hopping back on and cantering around to make sure we were still cool, I decided in my slightly stunned wisdom that I needed a new hat right that very moment, as opposed to the next day.

So I drove to the tack shop, tried on helmets, picked one, and realised I didn't have my bank card, so put it on hold...meanwhile, the tack shop lady was expressing enormous concern about my dilated pupils, wobbly way of moving, and somewhat groggy turns of phrase...

...she finally convinced me to go to A&E.

I was fine. But she was telling the story for weeks after.

we had someone walk in and offer to pay £15 for a £23.99 bag of baileys lo cal or they would go elsewhere...we declinded their offer
