working with police horses

I dont no where they advertise sorry but i would like to do that as well once ive done my time at school hehe good luck it sounds really interesting

I going to ride with them soon as a guy I worked with used to be in the force with someone who rides them!

I'd go onto the county police website (can't remember which county MK is in) and then speak to their recruitment people!

If you want to work with police horses then my friend used to work with the Parks Police as a civi. You should give them a call and see if they have civi posts.

Echo 2 years minimum. Its very clicky and people stay in the mounted for years. Its usually only when someone retires that a vacancy comes up and they actually prefer people who don't already ride believe it or not!

surrey police are brill - you can give them a call..they are on the internet and they will go through the details with you...
you can become a policeman from the age of 17 but that would be street walking with no gun. At 18 you can then apply for the police...have to do 2 yrs training and then you can decide what you would like to go into...
applications can be submitted but if you are rejected you will need to wait 6 months before you can apply again...
Surrey police have vacancies online too.....might be worth seeing if your local police station have customer service positions etc as this is another way of getting in....
Police dont offer work experience anymore due to health and safety - but if you go through trident they offer a work experience week...you have to apply and then they chose...that way you get to experience all the areas and decide which area you want to go into....
( I used to do careers advicing!!)
Good luck...main thing..if you want it enough, fight for it....police are hard to get into but determination will go far :0)

If you want to work with police horses then they do employ some civies to muck out etc.and sometimes put ads in H & H .
If you want to be a mounted police officer ,good luck ,not many forces have them anymore and you need to want to be a police officer first and just hope that you can get in one day!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Police Forces usually advertise civilian grooms posts in Horse and Hound but you could also keep checking the force websites for vacancies. They usually like you to have BHS qualifications from what I've seen.

If it is a Police Constable role you are after, you could be in for a long wait to get to the horses! The application process takes ages (and apparantly only 50% of people make it), then once in you have to do a 2 year probation but the chances of joining the mounted section straight after this is slim, vacancies don't come up that often.

If you are still determined to join my tip is once in gets lots of public order experience as that is what the mounted division like but be prepared to do all the griefy jobs for a few years beforehand!!

Write to MK police (they are in Thames Valley force area) and ask them what they do about employing civvies. I am sure I've seen ads in the local papers for grooms, although I suspect they get about 50 million applicants for each job!

Their stables are right behind my offices, I like watching them ride past every day.

You are talking about Thames Valley Police's mounted section - they do employ civilian grooms (advertised in H&H) and they do get HUNDREDS of applications every time (used to work for them!) As others have said, if you want to be a police officer then it aint easy, and it takes a long time to get to the mounted section - nice work if you are determined enough to get there though
