Workmen afraid of dogs?

Our company policy is to request that any dogs are removed from the working area and to be kept secure till works are completed, even the boss (who has dogs and stable yard) will not step over threshold till any dog removed when he goes to estimate.
To date we have only had a couple who haven't complied and one badly bitten plumber requiring over a week off. That was down to a family pet taking offence at a toolbox being put down in the hallway.
Majes sense to keep pets out of the way and also for H&S too.

Mil is phobic re cats. Much as I hated doing it, they went into the cattery when she came. It was that or she couldn't come.

Our pizza guy is Muslim and backs away from the door. Now we make sure he can hear us telling the dogs to back up and we close the doors before opening the front door. Don't see it as extreme, some locals cross the road to avoid me. Speaking to my Muslim students, they told me dogs are dirty, they have nothing to do with the, and would also cross the road for fear of being brushed past by dogs.

My lot get locked in one room if we have any workmen round, it's sensible, I'd rather no-one tripped over them and they're here to work, not spend time with my dogs.

I'd walk away if someone opened the door with a snake round their neck, no difference, I guess.
