Hello everyone - thank you so much for taking the time to visit my message.

I am passionate about horses (especially my horse Sid!) and therefore it seemed a logical idea to help the World Horse Welfare, an international charity dedicated to the caring and protection of horses.

So....The reason I have messaged is because I have been lucky enough to be accepted onto the Coast to Coast Challenge, which takes place in the Highlands , 29th August to 4th September 2010 (Lochinver to Brora).

This usually takes places abroad and it's the first time it has been brought to the UK!!

We will be riding for many miles each day, and camping at night.

Whilst the trip itself will be a difficult one, the biggest challenge will be raising £1500; something I have pledged to raised funds for World Horse Welfare in order to be able to take part in this trip.

This is where I need your help please!!

I have pledged to raise at least £1000 by the 9th July with the remainder by 23rd August and time is running out.

I have been lucky enough to raise £537 with donations and cake sales, but could really do with your help to raise the extra pennies.

I know times are hard but anything would be greatfully appreciated
If you can spare any donation that will help me meet my pledge, I would be so grateful.

Thank you for the donations to date. I am so excited about this challenge, its for such a good cause and one that I support fully.

Extra chocolate cake and flapjacks for making it through the message xx

Have you tried putting it in your local newspaper and or parish magazine? They usually have a good response. Also, maybe make a leaflet to take to your local shows/tack shops etc.

Hello.

I have someone coming to see me next week to take pics of me and my horse & to help me with newspapers etc, but you have just given me an idea with the local village newsletter!

Thank you!

Thank you so much Kate, really is much appreciated...and fyi Sid is 16.1!

Spookypony - YAY!! I'll see you there! And...I'll swap you sponsors! ha ha!!

Thank you again
xx

Totally non - horsey idea for raising money, but last year I was on a mission to raise money for charity for the Miss England final... I managed to raise about £2800... Most of it was from a bikini car wash!! I held it in the car park of the local village pub, got donated shampoo, a bauzer of water, and used buckets etc from the yard. Had about 12 of my girlfriends come and help me and just wash cars in bikini's all day...A friend also sold photo's of a girl with car and owner and landlord threw in a BBQ for us and sold food to customers then gave profits to me ( he made a fortune on the bar that day! )

I also ran an unafilliated show with classes like an obsticle course ride and run, pairs and a puissance! That made quite a bit too!

Just a thought, but it really helped me to raise the money... I also wanted to do a day on a golf course with my bikini girls again helping - People would pay £50 for a girl to push their clubs about the course and bring drinks etc...

* Runs and hides in fear of people shouting at me for using girls in such ways! *

Hope you do well and enjoy the ride!

xx

No worries, Hun! Mine's only 2'' smaller but looks more so compared to Sid!

Spooky, I'm sorry I can't quite stretch to 2 lots for this ride, so maybe you and Andrea could share, metaphorically speaking!

Good luck, girls, and pack your comfy pants and some gin ....:D

Just wanted to say thank you guys, you have been so generous to me

Only a few more pounds to go, so anymore generous people out there, anything would be so much appreciated

Thanks Andrea

Can I ask what percentage of donations will be going to WHW? I am happy to support but am a little wary of these kind of trips where a chunk goes to pay for the experience. If 100% goes to the charity for welfare purposes directly I'll be happy to donate.

Hello

I have paid money for the experience, all the monies you donate go directly to the World Horse Welfare through my justgiving page.

Thank you!

Hello

I did pay the £200 registration fee but have also put more money to it to pay for the remaining costs.

In my opinion, any donations or any fundraising I have done should go directly to the charity to pay for their work not for me to go on a 'holiday'.

However dont think 6 days trekking on different terrain 200 miles & camping could be classed as a holiday, where are the pina coladas and sandy beaches to lie on and sunbathe?!

The cost on Highlands Unbridled was not the cost quoted when I enquired about this myself, I'll have a look for what it was, cant remember off top of my head.

Thank you for this, totally understand your concerns, I would be just as myself

It is advertised as a rather appealing holiday on the Highlands Unbridled website, at a cost of £860.
On the WHW info site, it says that participants pay £200 'registration fee' then have to raise a further £1500 through donations - this covers the cost of the holiday, and I guess any left over goes to WHW (who would still make a good few hundred :D)
Or am I confused, and you've paid the £860?
S :D
