So who's hurting right now and how did it happen (nothing too horrific please - we want to keep riding) ? I came off the side yesterday after a badly timed jump. A bit winded and shocked ohh but in Agony today. Whiplash where head banged off ground and aching shoulder, rump and wrist :-(

Oh I feel for you! I'm OK atm but coming home this arvo got either cramp or sciatica in left hip down through thigh - ouch!

Ouch, poor you!
Nothing as dramatic for me this time but I did manage to collect a shin bashing and a lovely set of scratches from a hack 2 days ago.....horse flies have a lot to answer for. Hope you recover quickly

Hoof print on left hip (not from my ponio I hasten to add), next day slipped in stable and fell on ..left hip, next morning had to get a few horses in, made mistake of turning my back on one to fasten the gate as other horses charging forward to get out and was promptly bitten on left shoulder, horse then barged me into a ditch ...so wet all over. Have found other unexplained bruises on both forearms and right elbow...think I may also be falling off my horse in my sleep??

Had my jaw broken by doctors 2 weeks ago. Went wrong so 3 breaks instead of 2 and jaw wired. The breaks are ok but the stitches tingle and the jaw joints are seizing from not moving which is painful. Riding helps take mind off it

I have damaged my back, god knows how! Nothing horse related.. I don't think!
Can't ride as doubt I would even get on, let alone off! Had it cracked by the chiro last night but still very sore. Rode Monday for 10 minutes bareback (in my mind I wouldn't have a saddle to perch on and it may be ok.. I was wrong) and now feeling rather sorry for myself as I can't ride :( I'm sure my mare is very pleased though!

Two holes in my back. Had moles removed, within 4 hours of having stitches out skin had split open and is not suitable for re stitching so now going to have 2 nice scars!

I have suffered from chronic pain since my last lot of surgery and all my old horse injuries flare up regularly.. Even my shoulder I messed up SJ 22 years ago (eek) - dislocated the glenohumeral joint and severed the epiphysis of the same humerus..

I suspect I'm getting arthritic, lol..

I had an allergic reaction to prescription headache medication which damaged the nerves around my lungs/ribs, sinuses as well as other complications. I am now is constant pain, every breath hurts and if I use my seat to half halt or sit up properly through transitions it feels like someone has kicked me in the back and punched me in the chest at the same time. I'm coming off opioids atm so the pain is ramping up and my riding is getting progressively worse as I tense up. I usually only manage one or two rides a week and am also very weather dependent but am delighted with myself today as I have ridden for three days in a row for the first time in months even if I didn't look very neat and the downward transitions were all crashing fails. In a ton of pain but happy day :0)

Well its gradually been getting worse but hip and knee pain when in the saddle. I take painkillers before riding sometimes... just getting old...er. I have found even climbing over a gate and swinging my leg over absolutely kills my hip/ Otherwise fit as a fiddle!

Well, I must admit the pain I was in this morning with my back was the worst its been for a while, but now I am sitting at my desk in a fuzzy morphine haze, which is very pretty!!!

About to enter the morphine haze myself. Don't know what I've done, either! I've now stopped yoga, riding and gardening as staying active hasn't worked. Need to prepare a presentation, too, so it might be a bit psychedelic. Weee! :D

:eek:Got an appointment to see Dr this afternoon to try and deal with my migraines......I would like to know the name of the drug you were prescribed because I think I would prefer the migraines to the suffering you have!

I had a total Thyroidectomy last month and although I've recovered well I'm still experiencing occasional twinges of pain and my throat is quite tender and tingly at times - but it's not effecting my riding:D!!!

I did 5 days of mucking out 11 horses who were all being kept in last weekend plus mucking picking and other jobs including fighting with a very heavy wheelbarrow that refused to go up the ramp to the muck heap. Ended up having to go to the doctors yesterday as I haven't been able to sleep since monday because of the pain in my back and abdomen - doc was looking for a hernia and is concerned I have ripped something. Painkillers weren't even touching the sides no matter how many I took. Last night was the first night since monday that I've been able to sleep. Haven't eaten either so must be bad! Still, I've lost some weight.... :/

Had tonsillectomy on weds, sorry not horse related. But really want to ride ! so bored sitting about, how do horses cope on box rest :)

Abitodd - hi, I was prescribed a drug called Carbamazapine which is used primarily for epilepsy but is also prescribed for nerve pain. I had sharp pains in my head which it was used for.
I also have migraines and have taken various drugs for that with no ill effects. I take propanalol daily to prevent migraines which is really good and rizatriptan and sumatriptan when a migraine has started.
Most painkillers and antibiotics as well as other drugs can cause Stevens Johnson Syndrome which is the potentially fatal reaction to medication. It doesn't always happen when you first take the drug, mine started three weeks after I started taking it. Any side effects of any drug should be reported to your GP and any blistering of skin or mucus membranes go to A&E. My biggest problem was that it wasn't properly diagnosed as an allergic reaction for 6 days by which time it had done significant damage. I was unable to see for 3 months and have had lots of long term complications. Just read the drug leaflet and keep an eye out for any of the known side effects and report them to your doctor immediately. Good luck getting your migraines sorted.

My boy decided it would be amazing to stand on my foot and lean all his weight on it, then casually get off once I started crying, got some rather impressive photos I must post :-p

bad knee, possibly torn ligament but I haven't been back to the docs, just trying to forget it!

got bucked off about 3 months ago, landed face first, F'd knee and still isn't anywhere near fixed!!

Immediately after my foot was leaned on, swelled until I had a big blue bump!

Two weeks later and it still hurts a bit but the bruising has mostly gone :) Still rode after he did it, seemed such a waste of a good groom not to ride!

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. I have been given propanalol
and sumatriptan.
Really sorry to hear of your misfortune. I hope you find a solution.

In permanent pain from a mixture of fybromyalgia and the battering I have taken from my lifestyle. Some from being a child and tumbling off hay stacks and horses, some from work lifting and falling on a concrete floor and some from my present brood of horses the naughty boy broke my leg in several places an I get pain from a smashed knee joint need a replacement but refused it until I am not able to live a normal life

I have an infected blister on my bum from riding for 3 days in south amarica, in the wrong pants.i,m still there, using dodgy antibac cream and wondering why they don,t sell plasters bigger than 1sq cm in buenos aires! Ouch:(
