Ok. So I have a little rising 4 cobby on loan after I lost my horse. I had suspected worms as once fully clipped he had rather a pot belly. He was lethargic to ride though the fact that he's been backed and turned away also factors this. It's all still new to him.
Done worm count which came back 365 eggs per gram cue massive panic... Vet gave wormer for tapeworm also as with a burden this high tapeworm inevitable.
Now.... He had a double dose wormer and 48 horse after second wormer we have counted 14 tapeworms passed!!!!! I'm totally horrified.
My question is.... What on earth has this done to my poor boys insides! No wonder he wasn't gaining any condition from feed. 14 tapeworm seems rather excessive I've only ever known one or two pass!
I've always been so vigilant with worming, worm count and worming programs always. I'm just horrified. I've only had him a short time (3 weeks) I now want to do the best by him and move on with the best of care
