Can anyone recommend a company that does worm counts? I'm a bit sick of over-worming my poor horse possibly unnecessarily. I haven't the first idea how to go about this so a step by step guide would be amazing.:)

I have used westgate labs , its super easy, onto their website, request pack, once it comes you have no obligation to use it!, they send little plastic tub, with a sticker to write horses name on, a little addressed jiffy bag, all you do is collect sample, put in jiffy bag with cheque, put in post box, await results Lol! Simplez!:D:D they emailed and sent me a written copy of the count, think you also get a worming record card thingy to write on and plan your worming routine out on!:D:D

Can I just rave and recommend Westgate Labs?! Wow! I sent a sample last night about 5.30 and I got the results today-stunning (no eggs found in sample, very happy about that given the state of our fields ie disgraceful:o)

It was about £9 plus P&P whereas my vet charges £13!

I'm thrilled and will be worm counting (and following the lab's advice re the need for redworm wormer) rather than shoving tons of chemicals down my horse's throat from now on.:)

Worm egg counts are a good way of keeping the chemicals you put in your horse down - but remember they dont count tapeworm, bots or encysted small redworm so you will still need to worm for these even if you have a clear worm egg count!!
