do you think they are very accurate, my friend just had a high count back, she has her own field, grazes with sheep and is a bit concerned as 3 months ago the count was less than 50, i am not sure why count shot up as her pony is on its own, she poo picks regulary too any ideas ?

Not sure but I suppose three months is a while. I just had a really low result back and they suggested another worm count in 8weeks at a reduced price (£4) just to check it wasn't on the increase.

she sent her to westgate lab i think, i have looked on line for her and they sugg if low count do not worm and in 3mths do anotha count, they charge 29 pnds for 4 counts. yours sounds a better option where do you send yours

Some one here suggested Abbey Diagnostics, I used them and the service was very efficient. I think it was £6.00.Previous to that I used Westgate(it was a mail order catologue). Both gave a <50 result, no eggs seen. If I suddenly had a high reading I think I'd contact the lab for advice.

Chancer was clear on two worm counts then very high in March - but this was due to encysted red worm appearing, despite being wormed with equest earlier.

This year he still has a slightly higher count in March but nothing like the first time.

Youngsters can have more worms and vary during the year. Some people for this reason do not graze youngsters with older stock to prevent contamination.

I use Abbey aswell, suggested it to a few people on here months ago. Very good and cheap service.
