I was mucking out my new horse and found a White worm about 3/4 of an inch long. I was confused becase they woman said he had been wormed 5 week ago but I wormed him just incase. He has been fine for a week then I noticed that. And it worried me a bit. He seems normal looking not fat and not thin. Would I need to worm again or ask a vet about it. It was the only one he had but would the size mean there could be more?

The worm was probably dead and if it was the only one you saw following your just-in-case worming then I wouldn't be too worried. And you'll be worming again for bots any day now so I wouldn't worry.

Did the worm look a bit like a bean sprout? If so it could be a pin worm. Same thing happened to me not so long after worming but apparently pin worms respond better to the older type wormers. I then wormed with Panacur Equine Guard and loads of pin worms came out. My horses weren't showing the usual signs of rubbing their bums. Pin worms aren't that harmful to horses and they wouldn't lose weight. You can do the selatape test and send in to one of the worm count labs to be sure.

Yeah it did look like a beansprout. I hand pick my shavings bed so I can always see what's what and didn't notice anything unusual until yesterday
