I am now the proud owner (as of last night!) of a coloured cob colt who is 5 months in next couple of weeks and is going to be due for his first wormer. Just wondering if anyone knows which is the best wormer to start them on? Apparently you can't use Equest on them until they are over 6 months and this is the wormer I have my other boys on.

Thank you very much!!

Will hopefully post pics of little Harry over the weekend, along with my others

I've wormed my 4 mth colt with ivermectin, after his worm count showed a small amount of redworm and roundworm. Roundworm is typically a problem with foals. Not much point in using Equimax (ivermectin plus praziquantel) on such a youngster as they are not likely to have developed a tapeworm problem yet.
Good luck with your baby they are wonderful to have around aren't they?

The only ones that I know are safe to use at 5 months are Eraquell, Eqvalan, Noromectin,, Pyratape P or Strongvid P but you can always check with your vet.
hope this helps
