Wormers; 5 day course?

I have always used the Panacur Equire Guard and just been told I should change it with using it for the last two years. The chap did told me what to use but I forgot!! I'm sure he said to use the Equest and another wormer beside that.

Can you please tell me what you use if not the 5 dayer.

are you intending to treat for encysted smll redworm? If so the alternative is equest and if you havent already then possibly you may need to treat for tapeworms so you could use the equest pramox but not if you are treating an in foal mare does this help?

pixie, I called the vets just before dinner and they said they would get the vet to call me back after dinner. I left the same message like on here and then called them back just before they closed as they didn't call me and there wasn't a vet to take the call! They didn't answer the note that was left for them either! I will call again tomorrow to ask.....
They must be busy!

Worm resistance to Fenbendazole (the active ingredient in Panacur 5 day), is quite widespread, so I would be worry about using a combination wormer that is as effective as Equest Pramox if you have only used a 5day for a few years. Maybe safer to worm with Equest and then with Equitape (to tackle the tape worms) a few weeks after.
