Had to worm today. 3 out of 4 horses fine. Then it was Fly's turn. Now I could of added to feed and took the risk he would eat it (50/50) or I could bite the bullet and go for it. I was feeling pretty beligerant and thought "ok, bring it on" so decided to give it a go. After 3 rears, 2 aborted rears and several lunges later managed to get the wormer dispensed. For goodness sake. I really dread it. This time it went ok. Does anyone else have a problem and how on earth do you deal with it?

If his lordship gets the slightest glimpse of the syringe behind my back it's a no go, if I dont get it in first go before he realises, it's a big fight, so I just stick it in his breakfast.

I had a mare who was a nightmare. I saved an empty tube and a week before due I would fill the syringe with apple sauce and make sure some on the outside too. I gave this to her daily for several days then, with the actual wormer, got sauce on the syringe then gave it. By the time she realised it was not apple sauce - too late. I would then give her another day or two of apple sauce afterwards.
Failing that, you could try one of those easy wormers.

Donkeymad - I think that is a brilliant idea or yours and could help lots of peeps out there

When I first got my old boy 17 years ago, I used to dread worming as I would come out of the stable black and blue ..... they are long distance memories now as my persistance worked, however he never reared and that would be a bit scarey and dangerous, so OP please take care
