I bought a 5yo and planned a full worming program, as his history was unknown. I started with a 5 day guard. Then he was blood tested for tapeworm which came back very high. So i gave a strongid P, with the intention of then doing a double dose 3 weeks later. The problem is he had to have an operation, and I completely forgot to do the double dose. This was 2 months ago. Can I now just double dose, or should I do the single again and then double dose in a couple of weeks? hope that makes sense, and thanks in advance.

If I were you I'd speak to the vet or speak to the advisory service at Strongid P.http://www.pfizer.co.uk/sites/uk/pages/Contact.aspx

Or ring these guys for advice http://www.wormers-direct.co.uk/

This is off the packet:
Strongid-P should be used at a dose rate of 38 mg pyrantel embonate per kg bodyweight, that is twice the dose rate for strongyles.
Sachet pack
1 sachet per 150 kg (330 lb) bodyweight. Each sachet contains 7.43 g Strongid-P Granules (5.7 g pyrantel embonate).
Dosing programme – Anoplocephala perfoliata
The need for retreatment may vary, but if considered necessary should be carried out after an interval of six weeks.
P.S. Anoplocephala perfoliata is latin for tapeworms.

Maybe you will be ok after 8 weeks after all.
