Hi all I wormed our three horses about 4-6 weeks ago using equest horse worming gel ( the one that contains moxidectin ) and soon after discovered that they had the small redworm ( as passed in their poo ). due to this they lost a bit of weight so have been feeding them in addition to their grazing sugar beet and grain supplements to help them regain their weight. one of our horses seems to have recovered well but the other two are seeming to regain the weight less and have still got large bellies. to me as a novice to this it seems that they may still have some worms still remaining in them the question is am i able to worm them again so soon after having the previous dose or do i have to wait the 13 weeks to do this again or should i consult a vet?

Equest is usually very effective on all stages of redworm. Did you give them the correct amount as the tubes are quite small?
Have you also dosed for tapeworm recently?

Next step should be a worm count about 3 months after the Equest, or sooner if they are youngsters/poor condition. Be guided by the results and get good advice which is freely available. Worming is much better done with knowledge rather than taking random pot shots and hoping for the best. We can't all be experts on everything!
