Worming after antibiotics

I wouldnt rush into it as the Norodine upsets the hind gut. Have you asked your Vet? Personally I would be guided by them. Hope your horse is ok.

Again, I'd want to avoid too many challenges to the gut in quick succession, but I suppose there isn't really anyone who can tell you when is the best time to worm.

However, I'd be guided by balancing the relative risks. For example, if you have reason to believe his worm burden is high, then I'd worm sooner rather than risk escalation of worm damage. For example, if you had a high worm count.

If it's just that you usually worm around this time of year, then personally I'd probably wait a month or so. But that's totally arbitrary on my part.

Thank you both. I was leaning towards calling the vet to discuss but was really looking for other opinions as well as any anecdotal information. He's an older pony that had quite a high worm burden when I got him (well medium count, but high compared to my others). And although I do worm counts and poo pick regularly I do like to keep on top of it with him as he never worries about eating grass near the poo patches. So while I don't think he has a major issue I do err on the side of caution. Nothing is ever simple with horses is it? :rolleyes3: :)
