Quick question. Pony was on a week's course of Norodine. Worming is due. How long would you wait until you wormed? Anybody experienced any issues with worming too soon after abs?
Thanks.
Thanks.
I wouldnt rush into it as the Norodine upsets the hind gut. Have you asked your Vet? Personally I would be guided by them. Hope your horse is ok.
Again, I'd want to avoid too many challenges to the gut in quick succession, but I suppose there isn't really anyone who can tell you when is the best time to worm.
However, I'd be guided by balancing the relative risks. For example, if you have reason to believe his worm burden is high, then I'd worm sooner rather than risk escalation of worm damage. For example, if you had a high worm count.
If it's just that you usually worm around this time of year, then personally I'd probably wait a month or so. But that's totally arbitrary on my part.

At this time of the year it is encysted red worms [ivermectin/moxydectin], encysted redworms dont show up on worm counts.
Best take vet advice
Thanks, I am aware of that which is why I worm normally at this time of the year as well as do worm counts (and blood tests for tape). I'll call the vet on Monday morning.![]()
No problemSorry MrsD123 that came across as a bit snotty which I didn't mean it to be. I just wanted to make clear I understand the limitations of the worm counts.![]()
