My TB hates syringes with a passion - I can't give him an 'instant' calmer any more as it is too much of a fight, and even though I worm count as standard I am dreading having to worm him (if necessary) as he is such a total nightmare.

Has anyone used a worming aid like 'easy wormer' or similar, and do they actually work?

I've recently bought a "wormabit" and had amazing success with all of ours (three are really bad with wormers etc), they were almost unaware as to what was happening and it was all lovely and calm and stress free (and no waste either!), heard someone say they got lot of waste but I had practically none, did it very slowly and plunged it a good few times so no waste. Couldn't recommend it enough.

fwiw I do always use the whole tube to account for wastage. The thicker pastes (pyratape specifically!) did get a bit stuck in the grooves on one side of the easiwormer but would usually just give a small feed with the bit still in to get most of it down ;) .

This worked brilliantly on my friend's horse and she was kind enough to lend it to me to try with my big horse, but he seemed to know exactly what it was about and it really didn't help in the slightest. I don't think you know until you try!

I have one who I simply cannot worm, no matter what I mix it in etc. I tried the easy wormer bit as it was good many years ago. However, I still had to blindfold her, and have been unable to use it at all since. We have no idea why she no longer allows worming after always being good.

In answer to your question though, the worming bits are good.
