Hi all,

I have a Border Collie who is approx 5 1/2 and love him to bits.

I was just wondering if anyone buys worming tablets for dogs off the internet and does it work out cheaper than from the vets?

Also we seem to go through a hell of a lot of Allermyl shampoo made by Virbac Amimal Health, which I currently buy off the vet. This also works out pretty expensive (Milo has a skin irritation), if I could get these off the internet and save money - but without putting Milo's health at risk - I would be extremely grateful for any and all advice given.

Cheers
Ruth

P.S. Sorry for a possible pointless post.

We have a westie who has very sensitive skin, andwe use malaseb shampoo, which is great - keeps her happy all year round - It's £9 for a bottle, but lasts a while. Maybe try that and see how his skin takes to it?!
Oil in their food is meant to help with itchy skin too.
Good Luck.

maleseb is a POM shampoo so please dont use it unless your vet says its ok. It may do more harm than good. Its worth looking on the net as some vets put a massive mark up on products (some more than others!) but just ensure that the drug content of each medicine you buy is the same. Many drugs that you buy off the net need a veterinary prescription anyway and although i dont think they are allowed to charge for them yet, they will be soon so you might not be any better off for buying on the net.

Thank you for all your advice....I'm only really thinking about buying worming tablets and the Allermyl Shampoo. Next time I am at the vets I will ask about the Malaseb Shampoo but wont use it unless the vet oks it first.

Milo has evening primrose oil, 1 tablet daily, which has been oked by the vet.
