Having had a very low count on both of mine was advised to still use Equest by the lab. Was very pleased when I found two packs for £18 on the net, post free.

Wormed the older boy first, no sweat then went to do the young one who can be a bit awkward by ragging me all over the yard the minute he sees the plastic syringe, he's about 500kg of 'Kevin'.

Anyway after a bit of a tussle and two dislocated arms I finally grabbed hold of his top lip, popped the syringe in squeezed the plunger and was just feeling smug when he spat the bloody lot onto the floor,

.

So I scooped up what I could and proceeded to wrestle the little bugger shoving the sticky goo in his mouth as best I could, he's probably had about half the dose if I'm lucky, the rest is on the floor, up my sleeves etc

So what do I do now? I have a little left in each syringe, about 150kg worth which I could try putting in his breakfast or do I just get another whole one and try it in his feed, he'll eat pretty much anything in feed but never tried wormer, help!!

Try and get what you can into him - its fairly important as at this time of year, the larvae of some worms hide out in the gut wall, so there may be low egg counts despite the horse still having a burden of worms. If the horse only gets a part dose, you kill off most worms but run a slight possibility of accidentally selecting for the 'resistant' worms, leaving them with more nutrients etc to multiply...then it's obviously v diffucult to get rid of resistant worms in the future. To be extra safe i'd get another syringe, but tbh if you put in the rest of what you have in his feed, you're prob gonna be ok...!
Hope that makes sense. btw im a vet student, not a vet!

May be you could give Equimax Tablets a go, it might be easier to get the correct amount into your horse with them?
