For the last couple of years I've been following the equest/pramox programme for my horses. One is difficult to worm with a syringe type wormer - to the point that she is getting downright dangerous to try and get the syringe in her mouth. She's an elderly companion pony with an uncertain past and very nervous. Its taken me two years to get her to a handleable stage and I dont want to stress her every few months with the wormer. What would be the best wormer to use that I can mix with food (and that she will eat). Can someone recommend me a programme to follow?

Why don't you start worm egg counting? You might find that you can reduce your wormer use to just once or twice per year, and may be able to use a wormer that comes in a granule form.

Why not put your worming questions on Westgate Labs facebook page? You can be sure of help there.

I dont have a facebook account. I've checked the Westgate labs website and they suggest worming now for encysted redworms and then worm counting from then on. Is there a liquid or granule wormer that is effective against these worms? I used to use Panacur Equine Guard but have read that there is a lot of worm resistance to Panacur.

You can empty the contents of the syringe into the feed some take it that way. It was my vet who suggested this. It works with 2 of my ponies but not the 3rd she takes tablet only
