Ok I am ordering a weight tape to check but am putting my horse on my own worming programme as I am now DIY and the yard seemed to do mostly by educated guesses.

I have had an egg count done early August with a no need to worm report but want to now do a Tapeworm etc dose.

He is nearly 17hh and is an ISH I am going to order Equest Pramox and it only goes up to 575 kg would I anticipate he will weigh more than this ?

I usually go on the rule of thumb that 15hh ~500kg, 16hh ~600kg, 17hh ~700kg plus or minus around 50kg for build and condition. I would guess yours would weigh about 675kg so you'll probably be needing two wormers. There are some formulae you can use to estimate weight using a normal tape measure, they may be available online if you have a search. The weightapes tend to be accurate for certain types of horse - I think TB and sports horse types, so yours will probably fit well with what the tape says.

If you use equimax - the tubes do up to 700k - cheaper than having to buy two wormers and does everything but encysted red worm (I believe) - costs about £12.50. They also do tablets - 1 - 100k of body weight. Pack of 8 is about £16.
