Just costing out worming plans for 2023. Westgate seem to be £70 per horse including 2 Equisal tests and 4 poo tests, Intelligent Worming who I have used before are £73 per horse for 5 poo tests and no Equisal included. My horses are long term egg counters so pretty stable results, does anyone feel that Intelligent Worming offer anything "extra" that the all inclusive Westgate Labs pack doesn't? Seems a bit of a win win to get £40 per horse of Equisal included each year.

I use Westgate. The customer service is spot on and I find them totally reliable and very helpful. I've used IW via a yard manager previously and not noticed any difference I don't think.

Does your vet offer a health package?

I recently took our practice up on their standard package. It cost £106 for the year and includes:

Unlimited poo counts
Equisal tape test
Encysted blood test
Vaccinations (regular annual booster)
General health check bloods
Visual appraisal of shoeing and a lameness trot up.
And 10% off all treatment for the year if you pay on the day.

I only took it up recently and it’s already paid for itself. I wish I’d known about it years ago. It’s not well promoted at all. It might be worth asking if your vet does similar?

That's cheap! I'm pretty sure my vaccinations a few weeks ago was more than that without anything else involved

That is cheap, same package at vets local to me is £247 - the worming program is £100 on its own with FEC’s, Equisal, encysted blood test.
Always wormed after first hard frost with Equest for encysted when doing them myself, so was really interesting to have bloods done and them come back very high/positive for encysted even though last FEC was ’no eggs seen’ in November ?‍♀️ so he’s had his Equest again ?

Yes, I was surprised when you tot it up how cheap it was. I bought it just before he was due to have a top up of joint injections so saved nearly £100 on that too!

My blood results were the same- a very nasty surprise! Been negative at every FEC all year then an extremely high encysted reading.
