Sorry if this has been done before.

1. Does your yard have a worming programme?
2. If not what do you all do?
3. Does anyone know anything about Herbal wormers?
4. Does anyone know anything about Intelligent Worming.

PM me if you wish.

Any vets out there any advice on worming, the yard I am on has a programme to worm on 1 April and 1 November with the same wormer, but a few of the liveries have signed up to Intelligent Worming does this invalidate the rest of the horses wormers?

this is the programme i use and its from my vets ps copied from a word document. hope this helps

Notes
1. Programme for 2009
The worming programme for 2009 is unchanged from 2008. There is no evidence of resistance to the present wormers and we feel that this programme continues to offer the safest strategy and the best value for money.
2. New horses
We recommend that all new horses coming to your yard be given either a single dose of Equest Pramox or a 5-day course of Panacur Guard plus a single dose of Equitape. This is to treat all round and tapeworms (including any encysted larvae) and should be done regardless of previous worming history.
3. Alternatives to programmed worming
Yards that have relatively static horse populations and have used our worming programme for several years might like to consider using worm egg counts to determine whether there is any need to worm during the summer months. This can lead to cost savings and significantly reduce the amount of wormers used. Please call the practice if you would like to discuss this further.

for me it's a simple case of equest in june and dec, equest pramox in mar and april. this covers everything and involves the least doses possible. if my herd was stable then i would knock out 2 of those doses and replace with worm counting. i wont use panacur as resistance is so widespread. resistance is also occuring with strongid p. all the ivermectin wormers are related to equest and equest lasts longer so i stick with that.

Ditto this, although we worm count and rarely use the Equest.
