My horse was wormed with Equimax at the end of April, since then he has moved yards and not been with me for a couple of months due to my ill health - I got him back last weekend, he hasn't been wormed since the end of April and is currently out with 2 oldies, no idea when they were last wormed. He'll be moving again at the end of September when I go to uni.
Question is - Do I worm him today with Equest or Strongid P or leave it until September?

Agree with Ritchie, before doing any more worming, since he was wormed in spring for both tapes and encysted redworm, you dont need to do any more worming until autumn unless you get a medium or high reading on a worm count, since all the other types are either things you would only need to treat if you saw infestation eg pinworms, or which are ones which will show up on your worm count.

In the autumn you would either blood test for tapeworm or worm for the tapeworms, but you would worm for encysted small redworm (which Equest would do)

yes, get him tested first for general worming. but give him double dose strongid p or similar in October for other. Don't worm routinely as vets think they are building up immunity to the wormers by owners who do this. I have 3 horses, 2 of which haven't needed worming now for almost a year and one new one which came with a count of 1800 which is very high. Believe 400 count is the time your worm them. Anyway, wormed him and then again 3 weeks later. Tested 2 months after and he's 0. Will worm all 3 october as said, otherwise will await count results every 6 months or so.
