one of my fillies had sand colic on thursday night and have been giving her "sand shifter" which has psyllium husk (spelling may not be right but..) you add some to dry feed and when it gets to gut it is ment to turn to a sort of gel and absorb some of the sand and help pass it through the gut without any problems. she is supposed to take this for 5 consecutive days then 2 days off then again for 3/4 weeks daily. they are all due for wormer (panacur 5 day) i use this as filly and one other is allergic to alternative , and this seems to be the best working for all of them at this time of year.
problem is it needs to be added to feed which will make it damp, if feed is damp then sand shifter will gel before she has eaten it and will not do anything to shift the sand? should i not worm her until course is over (about 6 weeks) or stop using the sand shifter which is not really an option.???? aaaaaaarrrrrgggggggghhhhhh not sure what to do ??? worm count is not high -high, but high enough for her to need worming? help please anyone x
