worming young ones

Teagan and Skye both came to me at 7 weeks old having been wormed at 2, 4 and 6 weeks old by their breeder, I then wormed them with drontal puppy at 8, 10 and 12 weeks old, then 6 months. I bred Star and I wormed Skye (mum) with panacur liquid from day 42 of her pregnancy to 2 days post whelp, then wormed the pups (and mum) with panacur liquid at 2 weeks, 5 weeks and 8 weeks (the other pups went to their new homes then) for 3 days each time, then Star was wormed at 12 weeks. Bertie I got at 10 weeks and to be honest I can't remember whether his breeder had wormed them (I'm sure she did) and when I took him to the vets for his 1st vacc they gave me a worming tablet, can't remember which 1 (it was 12.5 years ago).

You see I have been told by the vet to worm once a month with milebax. I can't help feeling that is a bit excessive. I know he's the vet and the expert but really is it that essential to do it so often when they are young ? The mum was well looked after and wormed when she was supposed to be.The pup has been regularly wormed till the 5 month point(he's 5 months 1 week now).Never once has he passed any.I know that for sure as he is so house trained he rarely craps any where else but the garden. He doesn't pick up rubbish from out the fields - yet :D
Just wanted other peoples opinions really.

Start with Drontal puppy at 2 weeks then every 2 weeks until 12 weeks old - switched to Drontal plus at 10 weeks. Then at 4 months, 5 months and 6 months. After that, same as the adults. We tend to only do them once a year with Drontal + and then verm-x once or twice a year - they love the stuff!!
