Worming

I bought a horse 5 months ago and I haven't wormed him yet! Iv bought the wormer but now my horse is lame and is on 'bute' (I think that's how you spell it!) Can I give him a wormer at the same time as the bute or would that be too much for him to handle?
He is a 15.1, 510kg horse... If that helps! X
