Worms, mites ??????????? Also in NL

Hi everyone,
My idx has been quite itchy lately. I didn't think too much of it at first, as they all like a good scratch now and again but he's been making himself bleed. It's across his flanks and sides mainly but he has got a cut on his chest. His tail is a bit rubbed out but his mane is fine as I also thought of sweetitch. I'v looked at his coat and can't see any mites etc but have never had any experience with them, so would you see the mites or are they too small? He is due to be wormed. I'v got some equimax gel on order. Does anyone know what kind of worms can have this itchy effect? Is it pinworm? He hasn't lost weight (unfortunately!) either. Will probably get the vet out but just wondered if anyone had any ideas or had come across this first! Thankyou

Give him a good bath with Nizoral it will ease the itches. You can buy it from a chemist. Dilute with hand hot water and work well into coat, leave for 10mins or so and rinse out.

I'm glad this has been posted as mine has suddenly got a very itchy tail. It's taken me 18 months to grow it out after being badly pulled (not by me!!) and he has rubbed it into a bog brush now. He doesn't have sweet itch and does tend to get a bit itchy and scurfy when his coat changes.

Am going to give his tail a wash with Nizoral at the weekend, thanks for the tip. I've tried tea tree and various other shampoos in the past to no avail.

Just make sure you rinse nizoral out very well.
