Bought a little scruffy cob to keep my mare company whilst my daughter goes off galavanting. Hes two and a half and was obv. Very wormy.
Popped to the local vets to see whther to give panacur or ivomect.. Ivomect it was.. Gave him 300kgs dose... And omg the worms are horrific. I wormed him sun night, and there are worms still coming out this morn. First it was the small red worm now the big fat grubby ones... Cant remember what they are called! Would you wait four weeks to worm again? The poor thing is desperate to go out but i am not puttig him out yet.. Any advice gratefuly received x

Ask your vet as you dont want to overload his system with drugs if he is in such poor condition, so choice of the right wormer is esential! Grubs are possibly bots, but from the same experience with a RSPCA rescue, treat for pinworm. They can be very resistant. If he passes white thin worms that are pointed front and back then thats pinworm. I've had to do 3 months of embotape to try to get rid of them as Panacur and Equest didn't seem to shift them.
