Worried about lameness.

My horse came in from the field Tuesday 2 weeks ago, she was alright in walk but terribly bad in trot. So to be on the safe side I called the vet out straight away. Vet came and prodded and poked her, she was abit funny with it but wasn't too bothered about it
Being touched anywhere. No swelling, no heat. So she was advised box rest and bute til last Monday. The vet re came out friday a week ago and she had significantly improved and was only nodding a tiny bit. She had a scan on her tendon and the only thing that showed up where some slightly weird marks on the tendon but still no swelling or pain when the tendon is touched. So she's now off her bute completely and seemed pretty much sound when I trotted her today, she was bait funny on her legs but she's 22 and been stood in for two weeks apart from when she's cold hosed twice a day for 10mins. So ive got a different vet coming out tomorrow since i was given a referral to them because my vet couldnt work it out. What are others opinions on this? Could she just have bruised her muscle in the field and is still abit sore on it. I'm so worried about what could be said I feel ill, she's my life and wouldn't want anything to happen to her.
 
My mare has no heat or swelling either but is lame :( She's going to hospital soon for a full lameness work up - she was too stressed to do it at home. Watching this thread in hope of some enlightenment!
 
Our silly mares. I hope yours is alright, I'm sorry to here that. Maybe they're just trying to get a whole summer off because of the nice weather!
 
I wish! When she was ridden she loved it - even if she didn't know the route she'd be striding out in front of everyone lol. Fingers crossed that they're treatable/manageable injuries! :)
 
If there is no heat or swelling in the leg then I would think it would be in the foot - the foot is usually the most probable cause of most lameness.

Also taking into account the extremely dry weather and hard ground I would suspect a bruise or abcess, it always surprises me how little they can react to pincers when lameness has eventually been linked to a bruise etc.

When I have a lame horse unless it is something obviously in the leg I call out the farrier first before the vet.
 
It's not in my mare's foot :( She's been nerve blocked up to the knee - couldn't go any higher as she was too stressed.

We got refered to another vet, who came out today and did a full lameness test on her. Flexion, pinchers on foot, holding up legs and feeling her ligaments and tendons. There is slight puffiness around her hocks but thats really it since shes been stood in for two weeks. He thinks its just the start of arthirtius and she banged it in the field so was feeling abit sore on it when she was lame. Can start walking her twice a day for a week and if she doesnt go lame again start bringing her back into work! I really hope your mare is alright LaurenM, I know how awfully stressful it can be.
 
The arthritis sounds like it's been caught early so sounds like good news for you! Glad to hear it!

I'll update you once she's had her full work up - fingers crossed it goes well!
 
I'm glad weve got a good diagnosis. She seemed so happy today going for a walk. Talked to some people on the yard who were shocked about her getting arthritis, they didn't believe she was 22 haha. Hope your mares assessment goes well, and definatly keep posted on her!
