Had to leave my Setter at the vets today. He had a bit of a cough took him to the vets Monday said not to worry checked him over said his throat was a bit sore so
metacam go back if no improvement ..This morning off his food cough no worse but no better.Took him back and they have kept him in he has some fluid in his abdomen and around heart
Draining fluid and putting him on diaretics really worried he has always has a minor heart murmur but seems it has got a lot worse He was
Running around the fields yesterday really shocked how he could go downhill overnight.Hopefully they can stabilise him to come home tomorrow so worried he is 10 really can't face loosing him

I am sorry to hear this. How is he today? My collie had congestive heart failure which had similar symptoms so might be worth having your vet check for signs of that. I hope he is much better soon.

They have done ultra sounds and x-rays and it seems his heart is slightly enlarged and early heart failure is probable They have .drained fluid and hasn't built up again and he is happier today breathing better but not eating he is on electrolytes and diaretics and went out for a little amble and a wee .He hates being away from us and our other dog so hoping to get him home asap once on medication
They are keeping him in and he is to be assessed by a heart specialist before he is started on medication. He has had a heart murmur since he was a pup .seems it has got worse with age
Thanks for the good wishes fingers crossed for him.
