Hi all!

Ok these is a bit of a werid question but!

My boyfs brother has a staffie x lab who beau ADORES! she is a year and a half older than him, so still rather babyish herself, and they get on like a house on fire!

however, recently iv noticed cut around his body, like at the back of his ear, and on his rib cage area, nothing massive just about an inch long, and nicely scabbed over etc....

but this morning I found a cut on his right cheek, just under his eye, and it seems really quite deep! Its gone really sticky and proper thick scab kind of ick!

I think its cause they play fight (like young dogs do) but although they hang onto each other its never, NASTY its just, i dunno, doggy playing! but now Im scared as if it was any higher she could have gotten his eye!!!!

and Im mad because the dog is mental and although she is lovely she doesnt know when to quit as he does NOTHING with her! so she doesn't really listen to you unless you SCREAM at her and its really difficult! but obv I dont want beau injured or horribly scarred! its bad enough he got himself attacked by a spaniel the other week, now his mate is making him bleed, and this one on his face was bleeding, not gushing, but bleeding quite noticably this morning after htye got let out for a wee and a run in the garden together whilst we ate breky!

What can I do other than keep them apart to prevent this?! she is a chunk stronger than him, but they bowl each other around equally......... I just dont want me to be the one who ends up with the massive vet bill, as he is a bit more aware of boundaries than her!

Thanks in advance and I hope I dont sound too much like a div on this matter!

scratches and cuts like this from playing usually occur from claws being too long rather than teeth. Your boy is just being a dog and playing, he obviously doesnt feel under threat or he wouldnt play with her and if she had really hurt him he would come screaming his way back to you. Check her claws and give them a trim and see if your boy ends up a bit more unscathed from future play sessions.

she has weird claws, they are like really long, but its cause she doesn't seem to have particularly long toes....... so its almost like having long claws balances her out..... im not sure how far down her vessel goes, so I will check next time Im at the house!!!
I was concerned it would be teeth! phew!
