Worried she won't make 15.2 hh

Joe was 14hh at 2: I wanted 15hh. I spent 12 months saying "grow, grow" to him under my breath, then 18 months saying "stop growing, stop growing"! He has topped out at 15.3, and he took till he was almost 6 to get there. He ran 24/7 in a big paddock with a tiny bit of chaff for his supplements. Best way for them to grow is slowly and steadily: you end up with better quality bone.
Oh, and his mum was 14hh and his dad was 14.2! Some of them just haven't read the books!

In my experience all the WB I have had are very slow growing and have had several who have grown alot at 4 when they start proper work.

I have usually found that youngster grow after a period of work, not sure why but it always seems to follow.

Also, height is not everything, if she has a big rib cage and is wide she will take up your leg.

Well as they say, a watched pot never boils. My little guy was tiny when born, vet thought he'd only make 13.2. He was able to walk under his 14.3 mother for weeks. As a yearling he was 12h. As 2yo he was 13h, as a 3yo he seemed to be 13.3 forever. I finally gave up measuring him and when it was time to break him as a 4yo he was 14.3. So still small but at least big enough that I didn't feel too big on him. He was never bum high, apart from the first year.

She looks lovely and I'd be pretty confident she'll make 15.2

How lovely. 15.3 is my perfect height. Maybe because my best horse ever was that height. But I feel just right on that size of horse.

True. I used to ride a 14.2 Welsh cob and didn't look that big on her. She was also quite long in the back so looked bigger than she was.

Yes that's him. Thanks a million.

I agree with another poster that mentions width. I sold a 14.2 Connemara that felt miles smaller that the 14.3 coloured. The Connie was narrow and I felt very much like I was on a small pony, whereas a slightly broader ribcage makes the coloured feel like a small horse.
