Worried - tummy troubles

I've got the vet coming tomorrow but wanted to pick your brains for ideas. I have a 26yr old grey connie x arab who I've had for 14yrs. Since last Saturday she has had a very upset stomach. Her poos are liquid and she seems to be going little and often compared to usual. Feed/grass/hay has not changed in this time. She's out with my youngster who is 100% and has exactly the same management. She is happy in herself, eating well, drinking slightly more than usual but assume this is necessary to keep her hydrated. She's dropped a little bit of weight but can afford to. She lives out 24/7 with my youngster and they have hay in the morning and at night to supplement the grass (because my mum is a softie). Regularly wormed and field is always poo picked.
Tried the 'Biotics' supplement from Naf but it's had no impact so far. Going down the vet route as concerned she is not improving at all.
Ideas of causes? Or treatments? I'm thinking vets will take bloods and a specimen but we'll see. Would appreciate your thoughts. I am worrying myself silly.
 
vet route is a good idea - could be anything - some of my oldies just seemed to need a bit of dietary help so gradually introduced spillers hifibre cubes as a partial hay replacer and a probiotic (protexin) for mine when nothing came up on bloods etc - this worked for 2 or 3 without anything else just thought their digestive systems were getting a bit old too!!

Thanks Shazza, I shoulder have said she's fed hifi lite and top spec feed balancer at the recommended amounts. The balancer says not to feed any other supplements with it, but we did try pro biotic just in case. No effect though :(
 
Sorry your horse is not well.

I have been through a similar thing with 2 of my horses. My IDxTB had a couple of cases of the squirts. First time vet thought it was an enteritis type thing so prescribed Metronidazole (an antibiotic usually used for humans). 2nd time vet did a rectal biopsy which showed up he had IBD (irritable bowel disease). Treated with a course of steroid tablets. Both times he had a raised temperature.

My first horse had a serious case of the squirts, literally projectile and very rapid and severe weight loss. Absolutely awful for her and me. Tried several different things including a kaoline and morphine type substance to try and dry her up. Unfortunately blood tests and other tests revealed she was suffering from suspected cancer of the liver. But this is very rare and as I say her symptoms were very severe.

Hope the vets visit goes o.k. tomorrow. X
