Worrying about grazing muzzle and fly mask

Its silly really as I am just wondering should I leave my horse with her fly mask overnight? I used to have one on a headcollar so always took it off so it couldn't catch on anything. I have just got one of the mesh facemasks with velcro fastening so want to leave it on overnight, just feeling slightly worried about it so need someone to either say I am being mad and it is fine or quick take it off!!!!

Also have got a grazing muzzle for my shetland, it is the first time she has ever had one and she is 13. Am worried she can't actually eat anything with it, or will she eventually learn what to do? She only has it on during the day when they are in the very grassy paddocks, I take it off at night when they come back up into the padock with not much grass in.

Can't say much about the grazing muzzle but I always leave fly masks on my horses overnight as the flies are at their worst at dusk and dawn, here anyway. I've never had a problem doing this except for the masks getting ripped or removed :D and needing to trawl the field for them in the morning!
 
Is it one of the dinky muzzles? If so- from my experience no, they wont learn how to eat because it is impossible through them! (just guessing as pony is a Shetland!)

I have always left masks on overnight, never had any problems- saves their eyes early morning
 
I leave my flymask on, sometimes she takes it off though!

You may find with the grazing muzzle you need to make the hole a tiny bit bigger. Also teach her by poking treats and grass through the hole. She'll get there and won't starve, don't worry!

My pony managed to eat with a Dinky Muzzle on fine. They were the best ones I could find for her as they fitted well and didn't rub.

OP - They do get used to grazing muzzles so try not to feel bad, it's for their own good!
 
I leave my mares fly mask on 24/7 in summer. If it got caught on something I think it would come off pretty easily, it's not particularly tight and only fastened with Velcro.
