Worrying lack of rain - paddock maintenance

It's been dry here now for nine days and just looked at the ten day forecast and not a rain drop in sight! I have overseeded the paddocks 3 weeks ago, and it's all coming through but how long before the young shoots just dry up? I have also fertilized and the fertilizer is still sat on top of the dry ground! I wanted to get the horses on to the large paddocks as it's such lovely weather and can't until the young grass is more established and the ferilizer washed in.

I think in all honesty untill it rains nothing much is going to grow and you may possibly loose the young shoots of grass.

Allthough the weather is sunny and warm, the sun is not yet scorching and if you are suffering from the early morning fogs and mists that we are it is at least giving a little bit of moisture to the ground which may well help your young grass.

I am on the Cambs/Beds borders and we are so dry here too. I never thought I would wish for rain but we too desperately need some to help the grass and crops. My horses are out 24/7 now but with no grass to speak of and I am still feeding hay twice a day. We have clay soil here so the ground cracks badly when it's dry and that is allready starting to happen.

Not much we can do about the weather except you can bet your life that when it does start to rain it probably wont stop and then we will all be moaning again!

I'm the same down south, can't remember the last bit off rain we had. Nothings growing here and I'm useing so much hay to keep the horses happy.
I re seeded, chain harrowed their winter field yeserday and it's so dry and cracking. Need rain soon else I dread to think what the hay crop will be like this year.

Yes the hay prices will go through the roof.
