Had one of the worst days of my life today!! I have a lovely horse which Im selling to make room for youngsters coming out of field to be backed and someone has been out to view him 4 times!! Today they had him vetted which he passed and then they turned round and said after 4 hours of my time(and putting lots of other buyers off) that he was too green for them. No please thank you sorry or anything!!!!! Horse has been a saint and yes hes green which is reflected in his price.

Then to top it off my broodmare breaks out of her field and escapes onto the road! Many motorists ignored both me and horse galloping down round until one very nice man in a van pulled over to give me a lift and headed my mare off just before the motorway, she cantered back down the road towards my yard and the OH managed to catch her.

Very stressful day and very large vodka on its way now, also one to anyone who managed to read this far in this self indulgent post. Thanks for putting up with my whining lol :D

hope your mare is ok? have a good drink! as i am on the market for a new horse :) i think i am quite sensible??? i ask loads of questions before i think about moving off my couch lol, dont see the point of wasting mine or anyone elses time if the horse doesnt tick most of the boxes at the beginning. but why did they waste their money for vetting and then not purchase? i dont think i have that much spare to burn and will only vet if i deem the horse suitable for my needs.
hope you get a buyer who deserves your horse (pity he wasnt a schoolmaster :D ) x

You poor thing, definitely deserve the vodka, and you are so not being indulgent, everyone needs to let it off, and what a great place where everyone understands. Cant believe they went to the bother of all that and then didnt buy, some people never cease to amaze me. I'd have flipped, but then patience is something i dont have too much of.
At least you have a bit of interest in your horse, I need to off-load 1 or 2 of mine, but I reckon if i advertised them as free, I wouldn't get a single phonecall. Anyway, sorry for taking over your rant, hope tomorrow is a better day!!

I'd have had the bottle and sorry but some so called buyers can be ****ty, look on the brightside he hasn't gone to the ****ty people, who wouldn't have done right by him and your mare isn't damage, so two pluses:):):)

dont be sorry fitzaud its so nice to be able to tell someone who understands how im feeling!!! Venting on this forum always makes me fele better because I know people have probably been through the same thing and always have good advice or at least sympathy.

I know I would never mess a horse owner around like that I recently bought a youngster, viewed pics and vids, liked him, asked relevant questions, viewed him, vetting, bought him and took him home, all sorted within 5 days!!! These people have been messing me around for nearly 2 weeks, and not only me but my friend whos yard he is on! I also found out that they went down to the yard where he is living out and and climbed into his field, caught him and took his freezemark number off his back. All at 9pm while no1 was on the yard and without permission.

I couldnt even talk to him after he said he didnt want him I really thought I might hit him. Need to delte his phone number before I have a drink haha

OMG, you sound so like me, and if so, def delete the number, what an ass***e. If I put up a post at the moment, It would be about 5 pages of venting, lots of things going wrong at the same time, and being broke at the moment doesn't help.
this forum is great though, it's totally taken over facebook for me anyway. All my non-horsey friends get sick of me babbeling on about my horses, and what they are doing/not doing, so this is great, people that all have the one thing in common.

What is your new youngster like and what age is he??? I'm breaking my 3 year old at the mo, it's starting to be fun, cos he's as stubborn as i am, tried to upload pics, but me and technology dont work too well together, so maybe at some stage in the future. (He'll probably be 10 before i figure it out)

He will be 6 thius year, I bought him last year and he had been left late as he was slow to mature, so spent the winter backing him and now have turned him away. Hes been living out for a month and this man(who was not the worlds best rider) got on him and he was straight in a nice long loose shape in walk and trot still unbalanced in canter but no spooking or silliness. Was made up with him and if I could afford to keep and stable them all I would.

I love this forum it becomes addictive lol being able to talk to like minded people is a god send at the end of a hard horsey day.

He sounds fab!!! Bet you are looking forward to having lots of fun with him. BAck in the day, (when I wasn't a chicken), greeness was what I did best. While my sister wanted get up and go, I loved bringing on the youngsters, probably why I had so many falls compared to her. My baby, that I'm breaking, I've had since he was 6 mths, hence, why I'm not petrified. He's real irish cob, red and white, as lazy as you can get, but I'm sure I'll get my first fall in ages off him, all the same. I am like a child with a new toy, all this waiting, and now I can finally do something with him, even if it is only break him and leave him off again. I really am a sad case!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wish I could keep him, but I have 3 horses out competing plus a broodmare plus unbacked youngsters to keep me going this season and he really is too good to just stand in a field hence the selling but I really couldnt believe this time waster. And he didnt even have the decency to call me he sent me a txt msg. My OH was fuming especially after the broodmare put the frighteners up us. Im just glad shes not in foal atm (due to be AI'd next week) as it could have been so much worse if she was heavy with foal.

Very true :-) just such a traumatic day lol not too mention frustrating timewasting.

Fitzaud sounds like your going to have a great time with your boy. I love coloureds but having a grey mare has put me off anything with white on haha whats his name?

My kiddies named him spirit, because the film was out at the time, and they loved "Spirit". I am totally biased but he is gorgeous, and has such an attitude. bet any money i'll be here in a few weeks, feeling very sore, cursing his attitude. At the moment though, we are long reining, and if i ask to go right and he wants to go left, he'll go right, but will stamp his front feet in temper for about 10/15 walk strides, just to let it be known he wanted to go the other way. No badness though, i could tuck into a curry chip(my fav) sitting underneath him, and he wouldnt move, unless he decided he wanted some!!!

If i ever figure out technology, I'll post photos, It's very sad when a 31 year old cant upload photos. really did try but it failed.

I cant post any either haha but if you go on your profile to you can create an album and its easy to upload your pics on there then copy and paste that url into any threads to show him off :-)

Im overjoyed with my new boy, my 11 yr old although able to jump the moon and do a passable medium test is a big wimp and a p*ss taker and if you relax for a second will spook or have a little rear or something, where as the new boy who is just 4 works in a fantastic shape and is as brave as anything as well as having an excellent jump, got my fingers crossed hes going to be my dream horse, but I had forgotten how nice it was to relax with your ned

I'll try to figure it out. Isn't it mad that a 4 year old can be calmer than a horse you would think should have more sense. He's not a cavalier royale, by any chance?? They all seem to be really spooky. You will have great fun on your youngster, by the sounds of it.
I love this website, but it would be so much more fun if we werent so far away, and could actually ride out together every so often.
If you are ever in Ireland, make sure it's southernn Ireland, you can come here and ride, and I mean it, we'll fing something that'll suit you!!!

And likewise if your ever in Merseyside!! His breeding is bit of a mystery I bought him at auction because he was a mess felt so sorry for him and he now jumps 1m30s like they are trot poles and Im a very nervous jumper but if I stay positive he will clear anything. He is a branded Belgian Sport Horse with a BSJA passport and we are currently on the trail of his past. I love him though and dont think I could part with him even for all his foibles. 4 yr old is the one I have been saving my pennies for Hoeks Ludo W, Nimmedor breeding and such a stunner for his age. I love Irish cobs have to get some pics up a friend of mine has a total stunner of a 6 yr old

Do you just have the one at the moment?

This is going to sound really stupid, but is merseyside near liverpool?? feel like a real tit, but geography was never my good point
I have 5 at the moment, which really is too many. I had 6 coming into last winter, but cooper had to be pts, broke my heart, and it really did, i still cry over that horse, he was the most lovable horse ever, gave me back a little confidence, and if he had been ok, probably brought me to being good again. I have Cassie, who 25!!and in the 2 years we've had her,has thought 5 of my friends to ride(so the disease continues), spirit, Josalyn(2 yr old well bred filly- that i can't sell), and 2 yearlings that i couldn't give away, so theres no point.

Really wish i could either sell something or win the lotto so i can buy more land. Oh, In an ideal world, eh!!! Overdraft looks like going into overdrive, to feed them.

Haha I know the feeling! Im so sorry about Cooper thats so sad, its horrible to have to make that kind of decision.

I have 6 atm, I lost my yard and had to move back to Liverpool(its in Merseyside) and sold a mare who was about to foal and put my angel pony who I have had for 5 yrs out on loan. But then when I came home got an unbeatable offer from a friend on the new 4 yr old who was my dream horse so had to buy him even though I was supposed to be downsizing. So now back up to 6 although 3 are for sale as I really have to cut down haha

I wish down sizing was as easy as it sounds, eh, but on a good note, sold my filly today, even if it was for half of what i paid for her. 1 less to feed for the winter, It is so hard, cos if i had my way, i'd have every horse in the country that needed looking after. I might get sense at some stage, until then, i have my horses!!!!
