Fortunately no one was injured, toys out of pram!
my thinking exactly!! its one thing to fall off because you are out of balance but the horse doesnt go nuts or anything completely uncalled for (dont think it would have been awful if that horse had left a nice hoofshaped print on her tummy!!

Well I guess it's one way to teach your horse to run away from you after a fall ...

Honest horse as well - just stood there! didn't deserve that.

what a spoilt little brat! I notice she was clinging on to the poor horse with her spurs for the round up to that point from what I can see anyway! Yes it put in a dirty stop but cant blame it after being clung on to with spurs by an illbalanced rider and bless it I think it was even considering staying with her once it had stopped and told her it had had enough until she whacked it! Hitting it like that is totally unacceptable not only because the horse wont want to be caught again but what if it had bolted and got its leg through its reins? selfish horrid cow! And then she stormed off and clever pone let someone else catch it! gosh I hope her parents take her horse away from her and discipline her, what a nightmare child! :(

What an unpleasant girl, no horsemanship there at all. Horse is nice though, clearly desperately 'needs' a standing martingale! I hope she is ashamed of herself seeing this on the web.

another personal fave they read this add out on radio 4 a while back luckily they kept a copy of what is said even though ad is obvs down now:

"Ballyderown Top Notch is a 10 year old gelding. He is a grade A registered show jumper who was recently acquired by his current rider. An extremely honest and experienced pony he will take any capable young rider to a very high level. The pony is being sold reluctantly as the rider is an unappreciative spoiled brat."

The poor horse. Does the stupid little girl not realise how many people would love a horse as honest as that? Someone needs to smack her to knock some sense into her! I can't believe either that she just walked off in a strop and let someone else catch her horse for her, grrrrrr!

Re standing martingale. This video was shot in the US. It is a hunter class. Pretty normal equipment.

While I agree this girl is a spoiled brat, she is also young. Not excusing her for what she did but hopefully her trainer will have had a good chat with her on how you treat animals.

This was one bad moment in time that hopefully this girl regrets. If not she deserves all this.

So easy for all of us to judge. Glad that some of my stupid idiotic young moments were not caught on tape for me to relive over and over. Not that I did that but I just hope she learned a lesson.

I once saw a rider jabbing her horse in the mouth and whacking it when she got off by her box which was parked next door to ours. I opened our window and told her to stop it at once, as it was her own poor riding that caused the problems in the ring. She went beetroot, and ran and hid in the living bit. When her Mum came back I could see her pointing at our box, and sure enough her parent appeared at the door. She thanked me nicely and said how she had longed for someone to tell her daughter her behaviour wasn't on.. I had answered the door with a can of fly
spray incase she attacked me..!
Yes, in the clip shown it was the rider's own fault but don't youwonder what she does at home if she would do that in public? Bet her parent was embarrassed..

That's another reason I love Nedly. When I fell off after a nasty spin, he didn't continue running like he would have done if I'd stayed on. He stopped and almost looked like he was saying "Woops, what are you doing down there? You usually come with me..."

Vile girl.

Once saw a girl doing very much the same thing to a very cute grey pony here in SA too, though she did it repeatedly - was rewarding to watch because not only did the pony nip her arm but the judge also came up behind her, grabbed the whip from her and gave her (the rider) a well deserved smack on the rump with her own crop. She was sent out of the class after this and was DQ from the rest of the days events. Don't you just love judges with some personality XD???

Can't think why anyone would smack a horse after falling off from a clear error on the rider's side (horses don't usual just refuse a jump that it's not scared of and has clearly seen before). Honestly I think it should have kicked her - but clearly it was too sweet for that :L

I meant to add: I've seen another similar video on youtube, but I can't find it. It's of a girl falling off. She gets up, walks away, grabs a whip from her friend then pretty much chases the horse, whipping it as she goes :S Yikes.

Why the hell is it being jumped in a standing martingale? Stupid girl.

The class is 'Show Hunter' and in America a standing martingale is part of the correct tack to wear.

She is a ill tempered brat - I'd have had her horse on the market by the time she was home if I were her parents! Absolutely no excuse for that sort of behaviour EVER!
