worst horsey people u ever experienced!

Think the people that took my ponies rug off (cold and raining) when he had been wearing it for a few weeks. According to them, ponies don't need rugs (he came to me on loan, having been rugged up before). People who steal my feed/hay/stuff - delete as appropriate!
People who ride your horse without permission, then moan about dirty tack - the list goes on....

Oh I'm the perfect now it all! I know everything! And I mean EVERYTHING!

I can also ride anything, do anything, criticise to the max. I can bitch, slag, smile, sarcastically compliment you and generally make you worship me in every way shape and form :D

And the best bit is - No one tells me different because I keep my horses at home with me, myself and I :D

people who think they know everything and try and shove their way of handling and dealing with horses down your throat, and then be complete hypocrites about every word they say!

especially these types that say horses should only ever be ridden in a snaffle and cavesson noseband, or should all be ridden bitless, or not even ridden at all...GAHHHH.

i know a few of them

the livery yard owners who go round bitching about their liveries to other liveries, most annoying thing in the world, reason i recently left my previous yard.

People helping thereselves to grooming brushes and mucking out tools and pretty much helping theirselves to everything, wish they would buy their own!

People who saying having shoes on horses are cruel, and that you don't care about them!

Bitchiness and know it alls!!!

People who nick food/tack/hay/shavings and don't put it back or replace it!

Agreed with the people riding your horse when you haven't given them permission, that happened to me once, and they jumped her over 3" and she wasen't fit enough. I was FUMING!

Recent woman who moved to yard, her horses had strangles when they arrived and has now done a moonlight flit and no one knows where she has gone

Pony Club Mums the pushy ones with dumpy kids that could not ride a rocking horse but think that they should be on ALL the teams, and buy the little horrors horses that they break or ruin on an ever increasing regularity.

Several spring to mind :(

The family of the kid who used to ride our pony, nightmare doesnt touch it!! She was meant to ride our 12.2 but they took over the others as well. They would bring them into the stables and leave them in all day with no bedding, one was a yearling at the time. We asked them not to, but they took no notice. We would leave our horses in one paddock, come back and find them in one that needed resting. The pony needed very restricted grazing, the vet told us to keep him on restricted grazing with a net of hay, in a net with small holes to make it last, we explained this several times to mother and daughter, but no, she kept turning him out with the others, always "only for a bit" "he needs to run round" thats why your supposed to be riding him GRRRRRR. When he did go in the right place his hay was on the floor andhe ate it in no time.
There was some money thaat that went missing while they were at the yard, when i told them to go they refused and kept riding the pony for a week, then stole our three yard cats!!! The mother was telling my kids a load of lies to make it look like i was the one in the wrong!!! The only reason i didnt call the police was that she was such a blinking good liar she would have covinced them she was all sweetness and light like she did with my kids, even hubby fell for it for a while.

The person that walked past my foal that had jumped out the stable overnight. Claiming she thought I was weaning her...eh think about it. Why would she be outside on her own in a stable rug with nothing to eat?? And why would u just leave her when she could wander 50 yards on to the road? And as it turns out there's a high probability that it was u and ur stupid idea to let dogs fight when she'd never seen a dog that spooked her! Argh

I knew a guy who was 6'4 and quite hefty who used to ride a very very fine 14.1 pony - used to make me sooo mad!!! He couldn't even ride properly was was bouncing around lick a sack of ***** of the poor ponies back :(

The precious couple on the livery yard who get irritated by you going about your everyday business with your horse. eg you open the gate to go into the school, and they make a big fuss and tut at you as if you've nearly caused a major spook even though they're at the far side and their horse hasn't even done anything. Or you're washing your horse and it fidgets a bit as they're leading their horse past and they make a big fuss. Although I think its probably more to do with them no longer having the biggest horse on the yard and feeling miffed!

Sorry, but all yard owners are MAD! It is part of the job - I mean you cannot be a YO if you are not mad.

I have just moved yards and am still waiting for the rediculous rules to surface - none yet, but there just has to be something surely? Life at a horse yard would be so pointless if there were no rediculous rules would it?

Perhaps we should be asking the question - what is the most rediculous rule you have ever experienced!

After today I would say whoever sold a pony to some people on our yard as a first ridden. It was fine on the lead rein but as soon as that came off it went nuts. Poor little girl had a bad fall which could have been very nasty.

Somehow doing this to kids makes it worse, how could anyone do it.

Luckily she had an hour playing on our old cob, who is far too big to be a first pony, and got her confidence back

..you are describing me!!!

It's why I have my own place and no liveries, they couldn't stand it any longer....King of my own Castle and all that....

:D

:D We have to be don't we?

I mean, why else would we want other people on our yards/property, their horses in our stables, eating fences, breaking fences and trashing our land? Their whinging, whining and complaining? Why else would we knock ourselves out spending vast amounts of money to improve fencing, facilities etc?

On the other hand...sometimes we are fortunate enough to have decent owners that make it all worth while :)

The worst (and the best) 'horsey' people I have ever experienced?

Forum members without a doubt, that is any forum...

Surely only for the money lol:D

LOL - pleased you too that the right way! I do agree - some of the moaning I have heard coming out of fellow liveries' mouths shocks me!

A wonderful past YO of mine and good friend cried when I left because I never moaned about anything! Others, crikey, stable too small, water too wet, hay too hay like, field to grassy, field not grassy enough ......

I think everyone who has horses is a weirdo.. me included!! I'd have to be weird to be more than happy to give up any form of lay in and go and muck out in all weather conditions for my horse!

:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

On a serious note I haven't come into contact with many that are weirder then myself.. except for one livery who decided to pubish her horse like a child, when asked why her horse was in with no food in the day "oh she needs to learn a lesson, she wouldn't let me catch her earlier".. YO soon asked her to leave.

I have had a few mad ones over the years on the yard.

1. The rather 'round' lady who's husband bought her a yearling 1/4 horse as an incentive to loose weight - bascially she had 3 years to loose the weight before she could ride it. Sold to her by their family 'friend'! Needless to say x years later she was still 'round' and rode her rather sharp 4 year old and broke her back. I endured several years of her horrid boys playing football on the yard, riding their bikes on the yard, family fueds on the yard, she used to turn up in a transit with all the kids and the rest of the family for an 'outing'...not a nice time at all...

2. The 'professional' breeder, who made her horses share 2 to a stable to save bedding, didn't pay her livery bill and promised to pay up when she sold some of the horses...yeap you guessed the end of that one.

3. The one that left me a note on my stable door asking me to do her horse whilst she took her son away to Butlins for the weekend...she had already gone!!!

4. The 'international groom' who kept her horse in 24/7 and fed it up to the eyeballs, never rode it (cause she was scared) and kept lunging it (with no side reins or anything) so it just ran flat out on the lunge. Mood swings were unbeleivable and I'm not talking about the horse!

5. Perfect livery - did her horse twice a day everyday bar one day when she had a raging hangover after a wine tasting eve :), rode it, competed it, shod it regularly, clipped it, mucked it out, fed it, hunted it...and she has 2 kids who were perfectly plesant, she stayed for 5 years before buying a house where she could have her horses at home.

Needless to say for the past 10 years I have been on the yard by myself!!!
