Worst passport names?

my neighbours' chestnut TB filly is called 'Through The Trees'.
I looked after a mare called 'Warning' - she was not a nice charactor to deal with!
A blind broodmare was given a brilliant name 'In The Shade'.
When I was in the RC teams, a friend had a lovely horse called 'Holouschk Oschk Toscka' - some pronounced it in many ways!! I called him 'Tosh!'

Had a gelding in the other year who was called Chingachgook. Commentators just couldn't get their tongues round it! Needless to say I changed it for BE!

Bizarre, one of my members has a 16hh appx bay gelding called Chingachgook, surely there can not be two - he came 8th at PC Nationals last year?.........................:D

I bought a lovely kwpn mare from Cavan a couple of years back apparently unnamed so I called her Hattie then the passport arrived........."Sally from Bally" was her registered name !!!!!!!

The worst I have had were Noilly Prat, I did keep saying to commentators that the T should be silent, until I saw the advert 'Prat rhymes with cat'! Apparently breeder was an alcoholic who named all his horses after alcoholic beverages.

This year I went to see and agreed a sale on an ex race horse called Dolly No Hair. Now surely that is one of the most bizarre names ever? Sadly, the owner decided to sell him to a friend of hers so I never had to choose another name for him

Had three ISH geldings, each one 16.3/17hh with the names:

Jimbo, Little Joe and Tiny Tim

Horrid names, more suitable for something Shetland size. Needless to say all three were re-named.

My gelding is called Rushton Repulse, makes me feel ill!!!
I changed it for BD. I did ask the breeder if I could change the repulse bit but they declined. He is now unrecognisable, no breeders prefix.

I once knew a horse that was called Tosspot. That was his stable name, though I think he may have competed under that name too.

I have to admit, I disliked my Laurelgrange Barnaby Lad. The breeder had a B then L thing going on with all her foals which is fair enough, but the writer in me screams that Barnaby Boy would at least aliterate and sound nicer. Having heard some of yours though, it doesn't seem so bad anymore!

I love these threads!

My first pony was a little Welsh Mountain called Brackenwood Prince William. All 11hh of him. :p

I think the thoroughbreds often have the best names. I've known a Mr T who was a fine and leggy grey. Then there was Deadeye Dick, Slick Willy and Shot in the Heart (or was it Shot Through the Heart...) who ended up being held up at gun point during a ride

My first horse's grandsire was Gate Crasher, which I suppose is OK for a racer, but my mom was worried that it was a bad omen for a show jumper  :D

One of my horses was sold to us unregistered but with the stable name of Barbie. The breeder made us promise we wouldn't register her anything to do with Barbie, but the stable name has stuck. :p Even if she's large and orange :D And yes, she had a younger brother named Ken...

My warmblood's breeder intended him for jumping and wanted his name to follow his sire's, GoodboyxCandyboy. Hence I've got a Goodmoves.

Strangely enough we've yet to go up the centre line with that name.

Think I did get off lightly though, his younger brother was named Who Dares Wins.

We curently have
Crumpwell Revelation - Welsh D
Dirkske Z - warmblood
but the worst is
Sameon Fire Crystal - Palamino PBA (78.3%)

Previosly had Lisseygan Cruise Clover. Try fitting that on an entry form. :o

My grey is 'Sargaville De Renval' stable name William. I have contemplated many a time about changing it as it just doesn't suit him, he needs something camp as when he has his tantrums we say he is 'having an Elton' lol

Bahahaa, these are great! My friend has an ex racer called "Heroic Fool", quite suitable actually he does look rather dumn and his racing efforts were at best heroic failures....

There's a horse which competes in my neck of the woods as Washingpool Survivor... I have always wanted to ask what a washingpool is and how exactly it survived this ordeal?

But Washingpool is probably just the breeder's prefix, y'know...

Growing up my pony was Eggbert (we did prince phillip cup and SJ and people always laughed as he was a fine welsh with super sonic speeds and it really didn't suit him!!). Always reckon it's unlucky to change a horses name - so Eggy he stayed!

Mia is Move On
Sugar is Something Sweet
Not to bad I don't think

I did have a big hair ginger cob a few years ago i bought to bring on and sell and his passport name was Fire Dancer which I found quite funny considering he was sooooooo slow haha!

I love it when I'm stewarding in any showing class that involves a parent and child. If I ask the child what their pony's name is, the child might say something like .... he's called Billy or Dylan. You can guarantee that this remark is instantly met with a horrified look by the parent who will quickly inform me that the pony is actually called something like .... Two Step Dolly Drop Delight of The Isles  or something equally as dreadful. I've heard some shockers of passport names in my time :D I swear that I have seen ponies wince with shame and embarrassment at some of their daft names

I work for the breeder of my horse, all have the prefix solway which is fair enough, but mine is solway view, which is the same name as every other bungalow in the area. Seriously why view?

LOL - who does name these horses???

I had one called 'Surprise', it was so embarassing calling her across the field!!!!

I think the KWPN's all have short names - my girl is just plain old 'Caylinn', though now her stable name seems to be Midget... because she is tiny!!!

A friend of mine had a horse called 'Gravel Road' (huh?!)

My fave is 'Big Ed', an eventer!

I bought a sweet little Irish horse from a dealer to become an eventer... the name in the passport:

Somersault

I know it's bad luck to change a horses name but I think keeping Somersault would be worse!!
