Chose today as Iā€™m about to pick toddler up from nursery, with a virus that Iā€™ve been off sick from work with, an hour before vets shut to show me that he canā€™t wee šŸ™„šŸ™„šŸ™„ oh and DH is at work so just me. Cue me phoning vets as I drive to get toddler, vets say yes bring him in asap. Get home and canā€™t find the cat carrier, DH was last to see it, wonā€™t pick up his phone as heā€™s in the back end of beyond.

Find the cat carrier, toddler screaming in car with a pooey nappy, man handle cat in to cat carrier, rush to vets. Apologise to vets for the smell of pooey toddler.

Partially blocked bladder, some anti inflammatory and pain relief later and now Iā€™m on wee watch for the next few hours. If he doesnā€™t pass a decent amount then off to out of hours we go.

One of those times where I should have listened to my gut from the get go. I just had a feeling something wasnā€™t right this morning. Luckily I caught him trying to wee as I left the house otherwise I donā€™t know when Iā€™d have noticed as heā€™s an outdoor cat.

If everyone could send their wee wishes that would be great as Iā€™d like an early night!

I'll do a pee dance for you (very similar to when you really need a wee bit can't find anywhere to go). You have my sympathies from another male tabby owner with weeing issues.

We're feeling pretty guilty here. We adored that ginger monster, he had a character that filled the whole house. We've been devastated by losing him. But there's no doubt at all that Bobby was completely crushed by him. Bob is putting on weight that he needs and looking healthier and happier with every day that passes that Pickle doesn't come home. He's been so unhappy, and we never realised why. We thought it was the house move, but it wasn't, it was Pickle. So sorry Bob šŸ˜”. At least some good has come out of Pickle choosing to play on an A road a mile from home.

That sounds like a hard thing for you to see @ycbm as you are still mourning Pickle. It can be difficult to see what an animal is missing until their spark reappears though, so you have no need to reproach yourself as it doesn't sound like it was obvious Pickle had an impact on Bob. It may be that when you lived in your old house they each had large enough territories to be happy and feel secure, but moving meant that they shared outside territory and Pickle was the dominant one. It is always a relief if the other animal isn't pining when you loose one though, so it is nice you are seeing Bob blossom.

Dominant is the word! It was quite astonishing watching a10 week old kitten tell two 9 year old cats who had lived in the house all their lives that they had to wait until he had first dibs at the food bowl.

But Bob wasn't so upset about it that he decided to move out, and not come home again.
Lovely to hear his personality is blossoming now though.

My cat had a weeing problem years ago and he cycles on and off a special urinary diet (mainly wet) per the vet and *knock on wood* no problems since. I left mine at the vet for a night or two until we were sure things were truly resolved. He had crystals. Hope yours wees alright @ownedbyaconnie

@ycbm we had a second cat but when she was gone we realized how much happier my male cat is being a single cat. They don't always want companions/additional housemates I guess!

I was up every hour or so checking on him. Iā€™m not convinced heā€™s weed (itā€™s been ages since heā€™s used a litter tray and I canā€™t see any clumps or that heā€™s dug to cover anything) but heā€™s happy in himself and gobbling up his breakfast.

I wouldnā€™t put it past him to be holding it in until I let him go outside. I donā€™t know whether to follow him into the garden and hope he goes where I can see him (Iā€™m alone with toddler so canā€™t follow him too far) or hold firm on staying inside until vet opens and if heā€™s not gone then take him back in.

Normally if Iā€™ve locked him in (to give whatever animal heā€™s just brought in a fighting chance at getting away or to stop him following DH and Mabel on a walk) he has a hissy fit, scratching and kicking the cat flap to get out but heā€™s not even tried once since we got home last night. So maybe heā€™s not feeling as well as I thought. Heā€™s definitely moving better, jumped up for breakfast happily and I had a poke around and yesterday you could feel his stomach sticking out and tense but heā€™s gone back to normal.

Pics of the perfect little man yesterday before we went to the vets. Iā€™ve never taken him and not been complimented on what a handsome, lovely natured cat he is ā¤ļø

The vet asked if we had any other pets and did they get on, hinting at maybe stress at home causing the wee problems. I showed her this photo from yesterday and said they get on quite well šŸ˜‚

I have to admit to needing to turn my mobile phone upside down to really see where cat ended and dog begun. šŸ’“šŸ’“

Hope your handsome cat soon do a wee/starts acting like his usual self by trying to get out through his flap. Or that another vet visits fixes the problem. Also hope your virus isn't getting worse by you having to regularly check up on ill cat/worry about him.

Get well {{{{{{Vibes}}}}}} to the both of you.

He has weed! šŸ™ŒšŸ½šŸ™ŒšŸ½

Heā€™s a little under the weather but I feel much better that heā€™s passed a good amount of wee. Iā€™m going to keep him in rest of today and will let him out tonight all being well.

Mabel is next to me snoring, sheā€™s used to a solid 12 hours sleep but instead insisted on coming downstairs with me every 1-2 hours during the night to check on her big brother.

Ā£105 and a crap nights sleep later šŸ˜“ teddy doesnā€™t know how lucky he is!

Very lucky šŸ˜ø we ended up going to our of hours three times with 2 over nights costing me about 10x that much šŸ¤¦ the third time he peed on the vet and she didn't charge me šŸ˜….

The vet warned us it might happen again but touch wood he's been grand for 2 years now. As much as I'd love more cats he definitely wants to be a single cat, most of the reason we ended up with him.

He's not in my good books today after he chased a mouse around under the bed and then abandoned it when it fought back feisty šŸ

Not our black cat involved this time, but the subject came up as our black cat was supervising the vet dentist yesterday the whole time he was here checking my mare who has recently had a couple of extractions.

As vet dentist was loading his car up to leave, I was making sure that the cat hadn't decided to stow away with him.

He relayed the story of a former colleague of his who went out on an emergency call to a sick horse in the middle of the night, the client being over an hour away. Horse treated, vet drives home and pulls up looking forward to getting back to bed, to hear 'miaow' coming from the back of her car šŸ¤Ŗ.

She turned round and did the 2 hour + return trip to return the errant moggy, which IMHO is going above and beyond. I think I'd have asked the owners to come and pick the cat up!

I think I may have found the culprit of Teddyā€™s stressā€¦magpies.

Two in our garden that have taken to bullying Ted. I canā€™t say I blame them, he is a prolific hunter but theyā€™re incessant! Heā€™ll be sunbathing on our garden furniture and theyā€™ll come over pecking him. He wonā€™t let me stroke his back so is obviously sore from their pecking šŸ˜¢ poor little Teddy. Hopefully their young fly the nest soon and he gets a break.

Poor Teddy.
Meant to say our vet suggested adding water to wet food to make sure they're flushing out their bladders but then M has a tendency to not drink.
Thank you Iā€™ll def do this! Teddy doesnā€™t drink from his bowl as prefers ā€œwildā€ water so will be good to know for definite he is getting some water in.

Big black male hunter cat brings in his prey overnight for us to discover upon wakingā€¦how thoughtful of him! šŸ«£ The local friendly fox is likely due to this we rekon - getting his ā€˜spoilsā€™ that we deposit in the woods.

So, the other day i smell a funky smell in the main animal room. Initially thought the fish-skin treat the dog received and promptly hid had made its way back inside but couldnt find anything.
By the late afternoon, i am wretchingā€¦what the heck is that god-almightily-gross smell!?! OH and i proceed to remove settee from wall where a rat had escaped from male cat clutches and died. OMG the stink! šŸ¤¢ I bleached and sprayed and incensed that smell right out of here!
