Worst thing the cat's done.

Some cat/kitten has eaten a hole in my trousers!

Trying to put on a pair of lightweight jersey trousers that I bought for working outside in heat this morning, and I discover a large hole the size of mug in one leg. Its ragged, so if it had been outside I would thought a rat was the culprit, but then I noticed the blood around the hole, and they are on my bedroom floor.
When I pick them up the a kitten goes for the leg, so I think their mum has brought in something for them to play with, its hidden in the trousers on the floor and they have eaten it out.
The next poo will be interesting.

So at about 1am this morning I could hear some strange thumping on my landing. My first thought was that it sounded like the nights catch was being tossed around mercilessly. But Moley hasn’t hunted since he retired as yard cat and Merlin doesn’t bring in his catches like my darling Pepper did 😭. So I tentatively pulled wider my bedroom door and turned the landing light on…

To see Moley scooting around the carpet trying to get off a massive clinker stuck to his starfish. One bit fell off but before I could grab him he ran downstairs with a chunk still attached and continued to scrape his bum on the floor. I managed to grab him this time and pulled it off using some paper towels whilst he wriggled and yelled.

My last job before I could crawl back to bed was to try to clean up all the skid marks he’d left in his wake.
I'm sorry, but this had me howling. It was an empathetic yowl, you understand. When I adopted the three mouseketeers, one of them had stress poos. Unfortunately they also found a whole house terribly exciting after being in pens for 3 months and did zoomies everywhere during that first night. Including through a stress poo that I'd missed, behind the sofa. You know that Rhoomba horror story where the dog poops and the Rhoomba does its thing? Well, I know how they feel. Except I don't have the Rhoomba... 😆 💩💩💩

Julien (named after a guy at college because he couldn't climb as a teeny kitten) once brought me a packet of bacon and then an entire roast chicken. I do not know how such a small cat did it over a 6ft fence.

His favourite trick was bringing in frogs, never hurt them, just tapped them to make them jump. Apparently it was fun.

Had the shock of my life this morning when next door neighbour's cat had decided that digging up my poor deceased bunny was a good way to spend his morning....my poor bunny has been deceased for quite a while and to see what was left of him sitting there on my garden path was horrid :(

Said cat is usually the type who will chase a mouse/rat/small rodent but not do a thing to harm whatever he has decided to chase......add to the fact that my poor bunny was buried quite deep underground so I can't think that the poor sod was dug up because he started smelling or anything like that, has both the grave digging cat's owner and I puzzled. Especially as this is new behaviour from the cat and in between me hysterically crying my eyes out, I did suggest a vet visit in case this was a sign of something sinister going on with said cat.

At the moment I'm not very fond of cats....

I doubt the cat did the digging? Foxes and badgers dig up dead bodies but I’ve never heard of a cat doing it. Was it definitely the cat ? It didn’t just find it?

I am sorry, what a horrible shock for you.

I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw it either, but my other next door neighbour has a camera/doorbell ring type camera set up to take in parcels etc when she's not home, and when we watched back the footage of this morning it clearly shows the cat wandering up our pathway (he often uses our pathway as a shortcut to get to his cat flap) and then he stops, looked like he was sniffing the air and then starts digging like a mad thing....

Until this morning I had never heard of a cat digging, which is why I said to his owner to get him to the vets and get him checked over as it's not normal cat behaviour, and despite what occurred this morning, the cat is quite a nice chap and always stops for a chin scratch, before mooching along on his way x

It was quite a horrid shock indeed x

Sorry you had to go through that. A fox dug up my cat twice this year. He only died in July and I am very much not over it, so to see zombie cat was not nnice. We tried the paving slab trick after the first digging, but the damned fox went to the side of it. Willy is now buried under a 200 Kg cast iron roller!

Mine has absconded to the village about a mile a way, eating food put out for hedgehogs and so far deifying capture. He must have heard I dropped at a regular pit stop with a cage, because he seems on a bit further. From the pictures I have seen he looks pretty well, so he has found plenty of places to scrounge from.

In the past I have had people 'rehome' my cats without asking, but somehow they always come back when there is a vets bill to be paid, they literally knock on the door and tell me the cat is sick. It's not the cats fault, but it pees me off because they taken over a pet with none of responsibility.

That isn't fair at all honetpot, it would make me very cross. 😕
There is a part of me that thinks fair play, because you never really own a cat, they are like some 60's hippy on weed, doing their own thing man, and he is definitely likes a road trip. He is chipped and neutered so unless I catch the little devil the chances are I will get him back when he sees a vet, dead or alive.
I have some leads and I thought we were near to getting him, but I want him home before the weather gets really bad.

Hope you find him, HP. I see it all the time where people start feeding a cat and FB posts are all 'Oh, he's your cat, now.' Except he isn't. Likewise perfectly healthy cats being spotted and snatched off the street to become someone else's pet. It's why I was so quick to get the one that appeared on the farm scanned (who was chipped, but it was out of date - arrghhh! - luckily the previous owner knew the new one).

Walter is grounded after dark, now. He kept bringing in rodents, but the last straw was a terrified young rat being dropped into my best Ariat jacket, just as I was dropping off to sleep. At least Wilson killed the rats/ Wally seems to get distracted and lose them INSIDE the house! FFS!
