Would a gag work on my horse?

I currently ride my mare (3/4 tb) in a dr bristol and grackle. She can be very strong and a puller. Anyway, someone suggested trying her in a gag because she does not keep her head in. Any opinions would be gratefully received!
 
Wouldn't touch a gag personally and as for the keeping her head in??
When does she pull? The majority of it is down to correct schooling imo., but as the owner of a 3/4 tb who enjoys his xc I can appreciate sometimes they need a bit extra, I have just made the move to a pelham, I would consider this as a possibility.
Has she had the physical checks done?
 
I'm really not a fan a gags either, and they really dont correct an unschooled horse.

I would agree with having the normal checks done and a good instructor. I am sympathetic as I have a TB and I find they usually have very light mouths. Once an instructor has watched you she/he will be able to reccomend a stronger bit.

Can't say i'm a huge fan of gags, although i think they do have there place (cheltenham gags only mind, can't stand three ring gags).
Maybe as others have said have a few lessons to see if that would help, it worked wonders for me!
 
Is the horse in your avatar the one you are talking about? The grackle is fitted dangerously low on that pic, it will really be interfering with her breathing and it looks like the cross-over point of the grackle is resting on the very end of her nasal bone. She may be pulling in an attempt to get away from this noseband.

well spotted...absolutely right, it is fitted far too low. Try adjusting it and see how she responds before change her bit
