Hiya, I just thought I would bounce this off you knowlegable lot.
would anyone be interested do you think in a share of my tb mare. She isnt a fizzy idiot and is 100% on roads and out hacking so no worries there however she is only just coming back into work from an achillies tendon issue. She is sound and ready for work but so far its just walking in the arena and hacks and a teeeny bit of trot and she wont be up too full work till later on. However, heres the catch- I cant really afford to keep her and after calling over 40 places this last month for a job I am no further forward. And before anyone says sell her, I was. Before she injured herself she was for sale and someone was very interested and it was almost going through but alas horses ultimately decide in the end.......
so does anyone think this would be feasible? When she is in full work she is a star, great flatwork an amazing show jump and she will fly around an open level xc course like its 20cm cross poles she is a great horse???

vodka shots and green and blacks choc for anyone who helps :-)

Oh thats a shame I have a friend who would have been very interested but we are nearer to France than you :( But I would have thought that it would be good for someone out there, I hope that you get something sorted, good luck with it and the job hunting :)

re jobs i was in the same boat and with 3 horses and a flat and a horse box and car to keep on the road not to mention general bills. i had to do something, i went cleaning, totally not glamourous, but easy to get the work, and being english with transport is like being gold dust. It pays me stupid amounts of money .. up to 15 quid an hour if i do weekends/nights. ok its pants work but i work with such a varity of people and travel about its worth it, have a look on the jobcentre website and google cleaning companies in your area.
TBH id rather be scrubbing bogs than lose my horses.

I think people would be interested. But possibly not in paying much/anything until she is more sound. And it sounds like you really need the sharer for the money more than anything.

By all means give it a go but TBH you may wish to advertise her as for loan, (possibly WVTB), or similar so that you can get someone paying as much as possible for her as soon as possible but also be more sure that she will end up somewhere half decent than if you sold her 'from field' now.

As a paying sharer I'd look for something I could have fun with without commitment as owners can (and do... let's face it you might decide to sell her from under a sharer if finances got more pressing or to un-share her when you get a new job) change arrangements all the time. With a loan the loanee has a more reasonable expectation of being involved with the horse longer term so may be prepared to invest more time, money and energy in an injured horse.

Have you considered turning her away for some time? Or she she on cheap(ish) grass livery already?

Can you do something to get enough money to have a non-paying sharer until she is more sound?

Good luck.

I've lost job in a recession before and whilst it worked out OK (actually very well!) in the end it was certainly a stressful time.

Thanks for everyones suggestions, I have tried finding cleaning work, well just about any and all work. And with her being a softy tb she wouldnt be able to stay out and if she did she would need new rugs.... And she is sound the vet checked her over but she is unfit and I dont want to push her too hard or too fast incase I hurt her or do more damage. But thanks for the ideas about loan I will look into that thanks!!
