My gelding is just coming back into work after injury which he has now completely recovered from though will only be able to do flatwork in the future.

Im looking for a sharer for him so I can concentrate on my mare and also so he can have someone to spend some time with him as currently he is just relaxing in the field!

Do you think anyone would want to share a horse who is not that fit? He is currently walking and trotting on hacks, so will need a few more weeks of fitness work. He will eventually be able to school and compete at Prelim/Novice level dressage and the sharer will have the opportunity to compete at our yard and also travel to competitions in the future. The riding will be unlimited so will be like having their own horse, no jobs really as he lives out.

Some type of financial contribution would be useful but its not that important as a caring sharer is more important. If I did charge, should it only be about £10 a week because the work he can do will be limited at first?

The other option is that i bring him back into work fully and then advertise for a sharer but then i may not find one for a while and i dont have the time to keep him in full work? :confused::confused:
 
Im sure someone would be interested especially because once hes fit they would be allowed to compete and also if you advertise now or like in the next 1 or 2 weeks by the time an arrangement has been made he may well be quite a bit fitter if you where to carry on with the work until somebody was sharing him. :)
 
Yea I was thinking that if i advertised now he will be a little bit fitter by the time they come to try him.
Think ill put 'small contribution' then we can sort out when i have someone.

I know a few people who have taken on horses on loan which they've had to fitten up before they could do much with them. I don't think you'll have too much problem, especially as they can treat the horse as there own and have the choice to compete in the future.
 
I think a sharer would be intersted!

I am currently looking for a horse share where I could do stable duties in return for riding rather than money. I wouldn't mind doind fitting exercises for weeks as it would help the sharer to get to know the horse!

Where abouts are you?
 
I've got a horse on loan, who i only just sat on today, as hes not fit and has to be brought back into work slowly. Hes been off work for 6 months due to an injury. I have weeks of walking ahead and it really doesnt bother me. Im sure you will find someone hun xxxx
